Tip of the Day: Revive your brown sugar

You're baking cookies and you reach to the back of your cabinet only to find that your brown sugar is hard as a rock. Don't head to the grocery store just yet.
brown sugarIt is possible to soften brown sugar very simply in your own kitchen.

Place the brown sugar in a bowl and cover it with a damp paper towel. Microwave for about 30 seconds, then remove the towel and break up the brown sugar with a fork.

I've also found that if the sugar is super hard, I can add a few drops of water into the bowl for extra moisture. Much easier than a trip to the grocery store.
