Cheetos Cracker Trax

The new Cracker Trax crackers from Cheetos advertises itself as "dangerously cheesy." I'm here to tell you that isn't true.

The new crackers come in two flavors: Cheesy Cheddar and Spicy Cheddar. My supermarket didn't have any of the spicy variety, but I did buy the cheesy, and they leave a lot to be desired. Oh, they aren't bad, but they just aren't cheesy enough. They smell really cheesy (it will hit you once you open the bag) and they look and feel cheesy, but once you put them in your mouth, the cheese taste seems to evaporate instantly, and you're left with the taste of a plain cracker.

I don't know, I really love cheese and maybe I'm just a person that looks for a lot of cheese taste in their foods (especially when they are labeled as "dangerous"), but these just didn't do it for me. I'll stick with other Cheetos snacks.

4-04-2008 @4:41PM Michael Schmitt said... I share your pain and echo your sense of disappointment with this product. I was expecting the Cheetos flavor punch on the crackers, but all I got was cracker flavor and orange fingertips.

4-08-2008 @7:03PM beth g said... We found these VERY disappointing, and had the spicy variety- they are a cracker abomination. Normally we love Cheetos and Baked Cheetos, these were totally WHACK.

4-07-2008 @11:17AM RP said... I agree as well. Tried the spicy and all I got was atomic orange fingers--which I wouldn't mind as long as there was flavor to go along with it. Too much cracker taste. Barely any cheesy...or spicy. My dog didn't even like them which is freakishly unusual. I ended up throwing away half the bag.

While the former is a mere 100 calories per snack-size package, the original Cheetos snack carries a heavy 160 calories for every ounce of cheese-flavored goodness. While I actually think the cracker trax are really good, of course they're not going to be as cheesy as the original because there are less calories. And really, when you compare Cracker Trax to other other lower calorie snack options, like the hideously bland Cheezit 100 calorie packs, they're not only cheesier but a lot more tasty!
