Not to be confused with National Peanut Butter Day, which was in January, this is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day.
I've already asked in that link above how you make your peanut butter and jelly sandwich, so how about we check out some variations on the classic pb & j? Here's a Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly from Disney Family, and here's one for Ignacio's Super Peanut Butter and Jelly, which is made with three slices of bread.
And how about a Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly from Recipezaar?

Heard Betty Fraser of Top Chef fame on the radio awhile back giving an awesome recipe idea that would be great for Peaunut Butter and Jelly Day--Peanut Butter and Jelly French toast. Just make french toast as usual, then make a PBJ sandwich out of it. Put the sandwhich in the oven until the insides are warm and gooey then sprinkle with powdered sugar. SO simple for a fancy breakfast. And SO good.

The way they do it is to take two slices of challah bread, spread peanut butter between them, and then make it into french toast. The french toast (with PB inside) is plated and a "jelly" syrup is poured over the top.
I've already made their Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies ( see: http://www.jasons-toolbox.com/?p=111 ) and their Peanut Butter Chili (which I should blog about) and love both recipes.

The recipe with challah and jelly syrup sounds like a good twist!!! I'll have to try that.
On the topic of favorite additions to the insides of a regular PBJ sandwich...mine is plain ripple cut (because they are more crunchy)potato chips. I think it started as a dare in the cafeteria in elementary school...turned out to be great.

My favorite way isn't exactly with jelly, but it's close enough. I like peanut butter, blueberry all-fruit and slices of an extremely ripe banana between two slices of whole wheat bread then either panini pressed or toasted in the oven.
