How to teach your kids about wine

On a recent trip to Whole Foods, I discovered First Blush gourmet grape juices. It comes in four different varieties that map directly to different types of wine: Cabernet, Merlot, Rosé, and Chardonnay. This is the perfect drink for the yuppie in training. If they get to know their grape juices, it's just a small step to becoming a proper wine connoisseur (when they reach legal age, of course). Who knows - the early start might just be the extra edge they need to help them impress their dates and close business deals. Call it the training wheels of the wine industry.

Each variety is 100% juice and so tasty that you may want to drink it along with the kids. I've been mixing mine with some sparkling water to create a light and refreshing "grape fizz".

So, this is fine but if a cigarette company uses a cartoon figure it's the end of days because they're supposedly trying to appeal to children? Personally, I don't drink or smoke but I could care less if you or your offspring do or if they sell this product or use Mickey Mouse to advertise Lucky Strikes...I just think it's a bit of a double-standard...

Double standards aside, I'm surprised at just how sweet the merlot is (supposedly no added sugar).

There's nothing in the labeling or that I can see on their website that this is being marketed for children. Certainly you could use it to teach your kids about wine but I don't think that's its purpose.

I'd certainly like to try these. I've had grape juice that was about to be made into Luna pinot and it was really really delicious.

I wonder what is the percentage of grape in the First Blush set. It would be interesting to find out what experienced drinkers think about the First Blush collection.
