I recently bought a 10lb bag of potatoes on sale. The day I brought them home from the grocery I opened the bag to get some out to peel for making mashed potatoes. And OMG! Right there, on my counter was one shaped just like a male sex organ, with all the parts attached!!

If the bag had random shapes, it's an understandable oversight, but they should stop including that particular shape. Those straws in the picture look like something I'd find in Spencer's gifts or some other "novelty" store.

That would make it to easy, because that is one of the only things on this planet, other than rocket ships, poorly drawn meat mallets, potato mashers, and noses, that look like this.

I have to agree -- don't we have other more PERTINENT things to worry about with our children than the supposed shape on the drinking straw they are using? People can be so ridiculous -- but I am fighting for a common-sense approach to parenting. Pick a new way to use your influence and energy! How about starting those "talks" with your child about their own body right now? It'll make future talks so much more easy.

Personally I'm not offended by it at all - but I will say that it's the exact same shape as the "penis pasta" you can find at novelty stores, which clearly *is* meant to resemble male genitalia.

But again, I'm offended by it and I'm pretty damn certain that nobody under the age of 14 would ever possibly consider the straw sexual.

I think she needs to be reminded that there is a market for straws shaped like that (having been to many bachelorette/hen/stagette parties recently, I know...), and the straw-maker could've accidentally thrown some of those shapes in to this mixed bag. Big deal! Tell the kids they're a rocket ship, if that works for you.

Clearly, this woman needs to learn to talk to her kids about sex, and she should have a bunch of girlfriends over to use up the phallic straws for some kind of fun lady party. She obviously also needs to get laid.

I think she should be reminded that if it wasn't for the wonders of the glorious penis, she wouldn't be a "mom" in the first place. She should wave all penile-shaped objects in her precious little kid's face and proudly proclaim "if it weren't for something shaped just like this, you wouldn't even be here today!"

Oh dear...I am trying to put myself in her place and I am hoping I would laugh about this. Even if the child did catch on I hope I would be matter of fact about a body part. Its a part of the human body! And there's no way that I would have thought anything of this when I was a kid. I hope as a mom I would not make a big deal out of this as its just not a big deal.

lady are serious...... throw them away if you are that offended by the shape of a straw. I can't believe the world has come to this. i get weird shaped veggies all the time and i am sure alot of other people do too but to you see us throwing a fit and stomping our feet on the floor
