Nope, not cupcakes - sausages. Over the past week or so, I've noticed a preponderance of vegan sausage recipes, of all things, flooding the blogs I frequent. I'm not sure how or why the sensation arose, but I'm glad it did - vegan sausage should indeed be celebrated.
A lot of my carnivore friends have tried the Morningstar and Boca brand veggie sausage links (and patties), and raved about them, saying that the spices are just perfect and even the consistency is spot on. So, not only are vegan sausages a tasty protein source for veggies, but you could potentially sneak them into a meat-lover's chile and they would be none the wiser...
I decided to compile all of the latest vegan sausage recipes I could find, so that you could taste the spicy, indulgent treats for yourself. They might look a little strange, but don't worry, they won't take away any of your carnivorous cred.

Thanks for the recipes!

...doesn't that seem like an absolutely horrible to suggest? I think intentionally trying to "sneak" anything by somebody when it comes to food is somewhat absurd. Certainly you'd be upset if somebody suggested they could sneak a MEAT sausage onto a VEGAN's plate by suggesting it was vegan, wouldn't you?

What moral or ethical values of yours would I be breaking if I happened to "sneak" a vegan sausage or two into your meal? I'm guessing that your anger would be come from the fact that I was deceiving you, not from the fact that eating soy and wheat gluten would cause you serious physical or emotional harm.
However, sneaking meat onto a vegan's plate could be a serious issue, especially because the longer one has eschewed meat, the more likely their body is to react negatively to the substance if it's forced upon them. It could also cause serious emotional or mental trauma, especially if the person's reasons for eating meat are religious-based.
Obviously, I am not encouraging our readers to be deceitful - the comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. But can you honestly tell me that you would be furious if someone slipped a little tofu into your meal? If so, then I AM suggesting that you broaden your horizons a little :)

And to add onto the thing about "sneaking" something like vegan sausage to omnivores, as long as you make sure that the person you're feeding isn't allergic to anything in it, it's not a big deal. Like when I made a chocolate pie with tofu for a party, I asked, "Is anyone allergic to soy?" and left it at that.

Despite being a proud carnivore, I actually quite enjoy tofu and most of the meals prepared by my close vegan friends. The point is that I would be upset if somebody led me to believe I was to be eating one thing and "slipped a little" of *anything* in without my knowledge. And yes, I do understand that the situation is far greater in the case where the eater is vegan, but I was using an exaggeration to clarify my point.
