Of course, that headline makes it seem like I'm no longer sick. That's not the case at all. I'm still under the weather, though not nearly as bad as I was a few days ago.
I've been sick for the past week. It really wiped me out (which you can probably tell from my lack of posts here). If you haven't been sick this season yet, just wait, I'm sure it's coming. I know some people who had the throw 'n go (I hope that's self-explanatory), but I was "lucky" enough just to have a fever, body aches, chills, coughing, a scratchy throat and complete and utter exhaustion. So I spent most of the week just sitting on the couch, wrapped in a comforter, watching TV. And also trying to decide what the hell to eat or drink for the week. Just about everything I tried to eat or drink tasted funny.
After the jump, the four items I ate the most while sick, and the four I didn't/couldn't eat.
ATE
1. Popsicles: This was my go-to meal for the week. They're light, flavorful, and best of all cold on my bad throat. One of the few foods that actually tasted like they're supposed to taste.
2. Chicken noodle soup: Cliche or not, I think it really does help. It's not fun making it when you're sick though, all that chopping of carrots and celery and chicken.
3. Pepsi: I don't know why, but drinking Pepsi is something that has always made me feel better when I'm sick.
4. Coricidin: One night I think I actually had them as a meal.
COULDN'T EAT
1. Tea: Oh, the first day of my cold I certainly drank a lot of tea. Probably around a dozen cups. Then after that I couldn't stand the stuff anymore, which is odd because I'm a tea fanatic and it's usually the one thing I drink/eat most when I'm feeling bad. Just the thought of it on my tongue and in my throat made me gag.
2. Hot Pockets: I tried to eat one of their BBQ Chicken sandwich things and it tasted remarkably bad. I had Popsicles for dinner that night.
3. Chips: I tried to eat these with the Hot Pockets, thinking that something really salty would be something I could actually taste. No such luck. Just tasted funny to me.
4. Pasta: Even though I was sick and probably didn't want to eat a big, filling meal, one night I decided to make spaghetti, with sauce and grated cheese. It, um, didn't taste right at all and I simply didn't enjoy it. The grated Parmesan tasted especially funny, like pencil shavings mixed with stale Cheez Wiz.
