Once a year the Girl Scouts are unleashed on the world and ask us if we want to buy some of their cookies. As if we could even try to exist without their shortbread and minty chocolate wafers.
My favorite has always been the Samoa. Chocolate and caramel and coconut...wow, I used to eat an entire box in one sitting. But then like all addicts I'd want more and want to sell anything I could just to get a few more in my mouth. What can a person do if they love Samoas and they vanish for another year?
They make a cookie called German Chocolate Cookie Rings which are pretty much the same as Samoas. I haven't seen them at my supermarket in a while, but the Little Debbie web site above says they are still available. Edy's also used to make a Samoa Cookie ice cream which was pretty damn good too, though I'm not sure if they still make that since I haven't had ice cream all winter.
Does Little Debbie (or any other company) make a cookie that is comparable to other Girl Scout cookie flavors?

I used to really like the Girl Scout cookies, but they've cost-reduced the cookies so far that they don't have the same flavor and texture that the cookies used to have.

Edy's does still make the ice cream (there's still 2 half gallons stashed away in my freezer for later this year). The Samoas ice cream is much better than the Tagalongs, though (at least in my opinion).

Keebler makes knock-offs of Tagalongs (dont remember the name, but they also make a caramel version in addition to the peanut butter ones) and Thin Mints (Keebler calls them Grasshoppers).
