Have you ever had a craving for a nice Big Mac and those tasty french fries, but were too busy to go to McDonald's (or its drive though)? If you live in Shanghai, China then you don't have to wait much longer. The Big Mac giant will soon be taking orders for delivery. In an effort to compete with Yum! Brands', which has twice as many restaurants in China (Pizza Hut, KFC), McDonald's in Shanghai has been building up a supply of 300 scooters. That will help the burger chain deliver to about half of the city's 14 million residents.
That's a good start, but the company really wants to expand. This year will see about 125 new franchises and probably 150 next year. First they'll catch up with Yum! Brands, then surpass them. McDonald's will start slowly with China, then take over the world! Mwa ha ha ha! Oh, wait, haven't they already done that?

We had McDonalds delivery about 15 years ago in Canada but it didn't do as well as they'd hoped so they scrapped it.

i live in London, Ontario. perhaps ten years ago, McDonald's tried delivery service here - something to do with London being an ideal test market for such things.
it only lasted six months or so, if i remember correctly. but at the time my friends and i were half proud, half embarrassed that our city had deliverable McDonald's.
mostly embarrassed.

I too, also live in London, Ontario and what I remember most about McDonald's delivery was the order was never right.
They started testing out deliver just after the introduction of McDonald's Pizza. (Of which London was also a test market for those)

I think McDonald's has had a delivery system in the Philippines since the mid-90s, I believe. And now, it looks like you can even place your order online: http://www.8mcdo.com/app/index/

mcdonalds has a delivery system in tel aviv, israel, as well.
not that its doing too well, being that every block has 3 "gourmet" burger joints, most of them open late, but still...
you can pretty much get everything delivered in tel aviv. there is a delivery menu book distributed for free every year with over 250 restaurants (not just fast food by nature, but some casual dining as well) that you can call up and order from.
