Monday Happy Hour: Xellent Swiss Vodka Cocktails

Here are a bunch of Xellent cocktail recipes for your Happy Hour.

Xellent Heaven

5 cl Vodka Xellent,
1 - 2 dashes dry vermouth
1 tsp. Curaçao Blue Karibso,
7 - 8 ice cubes
Suggested garnish: 1 lemon balm sprig

Stir the vodka, vermouth and ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass and dribble the Curaçao Blue over the cocktail. Xellent Heaven is refreshingly heavenly.

Xellent Hell

3 cl Vodka Xellent,
2 cl White Peach Karibso
2 cl cranberry juice,
5 - 6 ice cubes
Suggested garnish: 2 red chillies

Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker together with the ice cubes, shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Xellent Hell is fruity and fiery.

"Xellent Spring"

Specially created for XELLENT Swiss Vodka by Alex Turner, IP Bartenders, London.

5 cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka
1 tsp. lime juice
1 tsp. Canadou cane syrup
1 tsp. fresh strawberry puree
crushed ice
Brut champagne to top up

Decoration: 1 strawberry

Fill a long-drink glass with crushed ice, add 5 cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka and one teaspoonful each of lime juice, Canadou cane syrup and fresh strawberry puree. Stir through with a long spoon to give the drink a beautiful reddish colour. Then top with Brut champagne and garnish with a fresh strawberry

XELLENT Spring should be drunk immediately through a straw.

Xellent-Ginger Lemonade

1-1/2 oz. XELLENT Swiss Vodka
1-1/2 oz. Monin Ginger syrup
1-1/2 oz. Evian water
3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/8 oz. ginger juice (optional)
Dash of cranberry juice

Assemble the ingredients in a cocktail shaker an shake.
Strain over ice in a tall glass.
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lemon wedge.

Charly's "Barman of the Year" Drink created by Charly Widmer

2 cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka
3 cl Passao
2 cl Malibu
1 cl fresh limejuice
15 cl "Orange-Passion" ('Michel')

Shake with ice and drain to 2-4 ice cubes.

Decoration: Carambole with a rasberry in the middle plus a leave of mint and an orange spiral.

5cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka
1-2 dash Vermouth Dry (Noilly Prat)
5 dry ice cubes
skin of lemon

In a mix glass, pour Xellent Vodka and Vermouth over dry ice cubes - mix or stir. Sieve this into a martini glass, add lemon skin and serve with green olives separately. The absolute classic is stirred not shaken, as James Bond prefers!

Shot X

2cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka
Limejuice and a slice of 1/8 of a lime

Fill a shot glass (small) with ice cold Xellent Swiss Vodka. 2 to 3 drops of fresh limejuice and the slice of lime. Drink it in one and hop! A quick, absolute great feeling!

Cape Codder X


4cl XELLENT Swiss Vodka
2dl Cranberry Juice
1 slice of a fresh lime
4-5 ice cubes

Pour 4cl Xellent in a Long drink glass (app. 3dl). Add ice cubes and fill up with Cranberry juice. Use lime slice as decoration. These ingredients are enough for a herby-fresh long drink.

3 Parts Xellent Vodka
1 Part Campari
A splash of Triple Sec
A splash of Orange Juice

Shake and strain into Martini glass, garnish with an orange peel

XELLENT Chocolate Martini

3 Parts Xellent Vodka
1 Part Dark Crème de Cocoa
A splash of Baileys Irish Cream

Shaken and served up in a Martini glass with a squirt of whipped cream

XELLENT Red Apple Martini

3 Parts Xellent Vodka
1 Part Apple Pucker
A splash of Grenadine, Cranberry juice and Triple Sec

Shaken and garnished with a slice of red apple.

XELLENT Lemon Spice Martini

3 Parts Xellent Vodka
1 Part Velvet Falernum
1 Part Triple Sec
A squeeze of ½ Lemon

Shaken and served in a sugar rimmed Martini glass

Swiss & Ginger Highball

1,5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1.5 ounces Monin ginger syrup
Mint sprig and mint leaves
Dash of Grenadine
2 spring water

Muddle the ginger, mint leaves, and the syrup in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add the vodka lemon juice, grenadine, and water and shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice and, garnish with a lemon wedge and the mint sprig.

Swiss Martini

2,5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
0,5 ounce of sweet Kirschwasser
1 lemon wedge
1 pitted kirsch marinated cherry

Pour the first two ingredients over ice cubes in a cocktail shaker glass and squeeze the lemon wedge to express the juice into the shaker glass and then trop it into the glass. Stir to chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the marinated cherry and a flamed lemon peel.
Note: With some of these fresh fruit martinis use of a tea strainer will make a better looking drink.

Velvet Strawberry


1,5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
¼ ounce Velvet Falernum
3 strawberries
1 lychee nut

½ ounce honey syrup (two parts honey thinned with one part water)
Mash the lychee and two strawberries in the bottom of a mixing glass with velvet Falernum honey syrup. Add XELLENT Swiss Vodka and lemon juice and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Use the remaining strawberry as a garnish on the rim of the glass.

Senor Martini

2,5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
Dash of honey syrup (dissolve honey in warm water)
Dash of fresh lemon juice
Dash fino sherry
Dash real pomegranate grenadine
Orange zest garnish

Shake all the ingredients will with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass garnish with a flamed orange zest.

Sunshine Martini/Shooter


1,5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
½ ounce Galliano Liqueur
2 orange slices

Martini glass frosted with a cinnamon sugar rim Muddle the orange slices with the Galliano in the bottom of a shaker glass. Add the vodka and ice and shake well. Strain into prepared martini glass and garnish with a flamed orange peel.

Brazilian Martini

2 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
2 lemon wedges
4 – 5 seedless red grapes
¼ ounces Velvet Falernum (this is a spicy liqueur from Barbados drop this ingredient if unavailable in your market)
¾ ounce simple syrup

Muddle the grapes, simple syrup, and the lemons in the bottom of the glass half of the shaker. Add the vodka and shake well. Fine strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a grape and a thin wheel of lime on a pick.

XELLENT Melons (Martini/Shooter)

2 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
2 strawberries
3 watermelon cubes
1 lemon wedge
½ ounce Lemon syrup

Muddle the fruits and syrup together in the glass half of a Boston shaker. Add the vodka and shake well with ice. Strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a flamed lemon peel.

XELLENT Cheri Caipiroska


Half e lemon quartered (if not seedless remove the seeds)
4 pitts fresh cherries
1 ounce simple syrup

Muddle the limes, cherries and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker glass. Add XELLENT and fill an old fashioned glass with ice and dump it into the shaker. Shake well and pour the whole contents of the shaker back into the old fashioned glass.

XELLENT Kidman Martini
United Nations Annual Ball – drink for Nicole Kidman

1.5 ounces XELLENT Swiss Vodka
1 ounce grapefruit juice
¾ ounce honey syrup (two parts honey thinned with one part warm water)
1 ounce POM Wonderful pomegranate juice
1/4 ounce lemon juice

Shake all ingredients well with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a flamed lemon peel garnish.
