Every once in a while, we like to get a little up and close personal with our bloggers. We've already met Bob Sassone, Ellen Slattery, Shayna Glick, and Sarah J. Gim. Now let's meet the latest addition to our team, Alanna Kaufman. -- Marisa McClellanDo you have a personal blog?
I have a recipe blog, Two Fat Als, with my boyfriend. I write, he photographs, and we both cook.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
I am currently a senior at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I study English and Political Science, and I hope to attend law school in the fall.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post?
Four days and counting! I love the post by Shayna about the world's largest wedding cake -- that thing is beautiful! It's my secret dream to be professional cake decorator, and I sometimes sit in Barnes & Noble, flipping through entire books on wedding cakes. I've never seen one that awesome before.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies?
I'm taking a drawing class, and I love anything crafty. Also shopping, reading, guitar hero, Project Runway and Top Chef, wandering around Philadelphia and playing with friends.
Not every foodie does, but do you cook?
Constantly. I'm practicing and improving a lot.
What is your most prized utensil/gadget in the kitchen?
Food processor! I didn't have one for so long, but now I depend on it for the silliest things like chopping an onion. It's a miracle machine.
List three things in your refrigerator right now.
Silk Plain Light Soy milk, grapes, leftovers.
You have to impress a date with a home-cooked meal. What are you going to make?
Haha! That question should actually be: What will he cook for me? My boyfriend is a way better cook than I am. But if I have to bust something out, my mom's delicious sweet and sour meat loaf has a high success rate.
What is the last thing you ate?
A mixed green salad with goat cheese, walnuts and cranberries -- my lunchtime staple from my favorite local food spot.
Confession time – what do you eat that will get you banned from Slashfood?
I love really, really sweet things, including straight spoonfuls of honey, maple syrup and brown sugar. I am also frequently seen licking fat-free whipped cream from the back of my hand, which is disgusting.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I've heard that you are supposed to say quinoa, because it's the only grain with protein, or something like that. But probably grapes, they've always been my favorite food.
Your Mom makes the best _____.
Matzoh ball soup. She does a thick and delicious vegetable broth, instead of the clear soup that you usually see. She only makes it twice per year, which makes it extra good.
Which chef would you most like to have come into your kitchen and cook you dinner?
Definitely Mark Bittman. I'm addicted to his New York Times videos, and love his entire cookbook collection. I completely buy into his simple, fresh philosophy.
Who would you most like to eat dinner with?
All of my closest friends together -- from school, high school, camp, etc. I'm cooking.
Your drink of choice?
Extra hot soy latte in the a.m., diet coke in the p.m.
Where was your best restaurant dining experience?
Amada in Philadelphia. They have amazing tapas, and the best salad I've ever tasted with chopped greens and avocado.
The worst?
Hmm, I don't know. Probably somewhere with overpriced, greasy food.
Do you want fries with that?
No thanks.
What foods do you think should be banished from existence?
Scrapple. It smells awful.
What do you see as the biggest "thing" in food for the coming year?
Local, sustainable food. And I'm convinced that muffins are the new cupcakes.

you can hardly tell the difference between fat-free whipped cream and full-fat. As long as it comes out of a can, and sits atop some heaping scoops of ice-cream, it gets the job done. And i've also licked it off my hand, so i'm with you there.

Scrapple is delicious. I don't care *what* it was in its previous life.
