Happy National Crab-Stuffed Flounder Day!

The hell?

Talk about your specific food holidays. First of all, I had no idea that people even stuffed their flounder with crab. Is this some sort of regional delicacy that I'm not aware of? As someone who isn't a fan of seafood, this isn't a day that I would celebrate anyway, but I thought I would have at least heard of this day in my web travels, but it's a new one on me.

But there are a lot of recipes for it, actually, from AllRecipes, Gourmet, Disney's Family Food, and CDKitchen.

I'll go to Google right now to see if there's a food holiday devoted to clam-stuffed tuna.

Once again, the staff at Slashfood stun us with their ignorance of basic American cuisine.

Do us all a favor, will ya? The next time you come across some exotic dish you've never heard of, like "macaroni and cheese", "Yankee pot roast" or "Clams Casino", do us all a favor and try to *pretend* that you've actually heard of the dish, OK?

I don't know where you live; I live in Long Island, NY, which has a very heavy seafood-eating population (what with being extremely close to the Atlantic, for the most part); as such, there are tons of really good seafood restaurants all over the island. Crab-stuffed anything is pretty common locally.
