Believe it or not, 15-year old Faye Campbell of Great Britain has eaten nothing but french fries ("chips" to the Brits) for the past ten years.
According to an article in the Daily Mail, Campbell suffers from a "bizarre physical condition which made her ill every time she tried anything other than chips."
This "bizarre" condition? Gastrooesophageal reflux...commonly known as heartburn.
For whatever reason, it took the girl's doctors way too long to realize the cause, and in the meantime, pardon me for being slightly insensitive, but she's been milking it for all it's worth.
I don't doubt that salty potatoes are easier to digest than, say, acidic fruits or juices. But how I'm impressed with how long this girl has convinced her parents to let her eat fries at every meal - every kid should be so lucky! And conveniently, french fries go down easier than say, Brussels sprouts or bananas...
The good news? To her parents' delight, Campbell has now moved onto foods other than french fries. Her diet now also consists of burgers, noodles, Chinese takeout, and waffles. (Don't you wish you had this girl's parents when you were 15?)

Disagree! There's no problem with this, as long as you give a child a plate of food from all food categories. They'll eat what they like and won't eat what they don't like. If they don't eat foods, they'll hold out till mom gives them something more they like better, and they'll continue this behavior. It's learned early on. Same thing for dogs. Give a dog dog food and table scraps and he'll start ignoring his dog food because he's holding out for table scraps. Never have I known a child to starve to death because he just "didn't like his food." It worked in the past and it will work now.

I have a friend that has for the last 10 years eaten cheese, fritos with cheese on it, cheese queso dip, grill chesses, and any junk food with the cheese flavoring on it. She even ate like this when she was pregnant, but luckily her little boy was born very healthy.

I also wonder why fried chips didn't aggravate her heartburn worse, if she really had it to begin with. Fried foods are known to cause heartburn! Her parents should've sent her to the table with a plate of green beans!

Its partly her fault for never moving on but if its been going on for 10 years they let their five year old eat nothing but french fries. im fourteen right now but before I had a problem where i used to get violently ill if i would eat anything other than meat and a few vegetables, not extremely unhealthy but my parents helped me get through it by getting me to eat other foods slowly and i got used to them and can now enjoy the other foods that everyone else can, with the exception of caneed meats, pastas, fruits, some times bread.
faye really needs to move on get a healthy life style and stop trying to eat junk food whenever she wants, we all have to move on at some point

As an infant she only had her bottles which i would sneak some baby food in from time to time she also had gatro reflux as a baby. i am always concerned with her health but all doctors we see says she is perfectly healthy and is not malnurished in any way.

Second off - don't BUY the crap they "choose" to eat over a balanced diet to begin with - if it's not in the house, I guess it's not a choice, eh?
And before you go there - YES, I raised two kids on every kind of GOOD food there is. Nobody ate junk and crap at the table or elsewhere for that matter - and there was none of this whining and "I don't wanna" or "I don't like" this or that - the rule was you had to try it first before you could dismiss it as a possibility. Not to mention we didn't have the money to buy food to throw in the trash because of a childish whim. Therefore - my kids, who are now grown, eat everything. Liver and spinach to them is a supreme treat. There's only one vegetable each that they prefer not to eat, but since they eat everything else under the sun - lots of fruits, asparagus, broccoli, spinach/greens, salads, green beans, beets, corn, peas, etc., etc., etc., - I can be flexible. They both can cook - one is a daughter and the other is a son. My daughter and her husband have three sons who are also being raised on GOOD food - no junk in her house - and they are perfectly healthy little boys. Fruit is the snack of choice - not to mention it's what's in the house, not sugar and fat-laden garbage.
STOP caving into whining, spoiled kids - BE the parents you are supposed to be. Nobody promised you it would be easy - just that it would be worth it.

We have been worried sick over this, but his pediatrician don't seem to be to concerned about it. I know it is not good for him, but he has to eat something. Believe me we have tried, no luck.

My daughter had sever gastroesophageal reflux when she was a baby and toddler. Each time she would vomit up a food, she'd never eat it again. The only food she liked enough to keep trying was french fries. (She survived off of soy milk.) When she finally started eating (after two years with a feeding specialist), she only ate noodles. We had to find creative ways to get her to try anything else (distraction, bribes, cutting food in weird shapes, feeding her off of chop sticks, etc.). But she's 6 years old now and loves broccoli and chicken and every fruit. The difference between this girl in the article and my daughter seems to be that we made it our life's work to deal with it. But it's true -- the doctors seemed clueless about why our child was refusing food -- even though her reflux was well-diagnosed. My daughter is still picky -- would prefer a dry bagel to one that has margarine on it, eats turkey meat but won't eat it as a sandwich, etc.

Luckily, I have started to grow away from it, broadening my horizon, but I can totally relate to how this girl is living!

It is hard to understand how parents would allow a child to eat "nothing" but french fries for ten years while they ate healtier foods. They should be arrested for child endangerment and dealt with harshly.
