Admit it. You've spread 10,000 bacteria

seinfeld double dipping episodeLet's hope that at whatever Super Bowl party you were yesterday, you didn't go anywhere near the salsa, guacamole, hummus, or anything that has a last name of "Dip." If you did, let's hope that the only other guests with you were your immediate family, or people with who you don't mind sharing...10,000 bacteria.

In a study done at Clemson University, research students found that "three to six double dips transferred about 10,000 bacteria from the eater's mouth to the remaining dip."

That, my Slashfoodie friends, is disgusting.

Oh, get over it, you spread more bacteria on yourself just by flushing the toilet, let alone other mundane activities like kissing, sex, handshaking, etc. Unless you're trying to prevent the dip from rotting as long as possible, I've no idea why a trivial amount of germs should squick you out.

Not to mention that really 10,000 bacteria can not be that significant depending on the type and the amount of surface area they are covering. Remember bacteria are only bad above a tolerance limit.
