I have to admit that when I throw a Super Bowl party, I don't usually serve foods on Super Bowl or football-themed plates and platters. It's usually enough for me to have the game on in the background and let the food just speak for itself. However, because we happen to be hosting the Slashfood Bowl this week, I thought it would be nice to show off Wincraft's Snack Helmets that come in the opposing teams' helmets. Since I play fairly, I'm representing Marisa's New York Giants in addition to the Patriots. (I didn't really care either way for anyone who cares - my heart belongs to the Colts).
The helmets hold snacks on top and in a small section near the face mask. Both are available on Amazon.com for about $45 (depending on the seller).

Um yeah, let the food speak for itself.
There's a reason the Colts didn't make the AFC Championship ;) (GO PATS!!!)
But I digress.
I usually go with some Family Traditions, but this year I've been thrown 2 loops:
1) My brother's girlfriend is a vegetarian and gluten free.
2) My 67 year old Father needs to lose 20 lbs.
I'm thinking some kind veggie stir fry, but what about pre-game/hype snackntion? Spinach Dip? Any low-fat tasty veggie gluten free ideas? I can't go with the usual 7 layer taco dip. And I'm sure as heck not gonna do rice cakes/tofu thang ;)
Any ideas would be appreciated.
So far the menu is looking like:
Roast Beef with Mushroom Au Jous
Onion Rice Casserole
Kind Broccoli/Onion/Snow Peas/Water Chestnut/Bean Sprout/Bamboo Shoot Stir Fry with Rice a Hoisin Sauce

Corn chips and veggies w/ black bean dip, hummus + salsa.
Pamela's makes THE BEST gluten free cakes mixes. Seriously, you can't tell the difference.
OR! Make a vegetarian bean chili, prepare the meat on the side & stir it into the omnivores' bowls.
