Do you have a personal blog?I don't. I've only recently gotten around to using the computer more than twice a week to check email.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
I am the baker in a pastry kitchen. I've also been a cake decorator for some time.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post?
I've been writing maybe three weeks. So far my favorite post was the one about Mozilla Firefox's birthday. But that was really because it gave me an excuse to make a cake and decorate it.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies?
Hmm, that's tough. I love reading, but most of the books I've been reading lately are about food. I love watching movies and tv. I also like to go for walks, and I jog.
Not every foodie does, but do you cook?
Yep. I love cooking.
What is your most prized utensil/gadget in the kitchen?
I am in love with my new Kitchen Aid mixer. It's pink and I got it for Christmas. I've wanted one for years and could never afford one.
List three things in your refrigerator right now.
Leftover Swiss buttercream, an artichoke, and blueberry stilton.
You have to impress a date with a home-cooked meal. What are you going to make?
My favorite dish I've made to impress someone was Boeuf Bourguignon. It's a French beef stew make with red wine. so good
What is the last thing you ate?
That would be the french toast I made for brunch, with bacon and strawberries.
Confession time – what do you eat that will get you banned from Slashfood?
I try not to eat anything that's really bad, but I do like those pre-made oatmeal breakfast bars.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
That would be incredibly unhealthy. You could die of malnutrition if you're not careful. Maybe something like miso soup with vegetables and tofu. I think that'd be a tasty yet healthful option.
Your Mom makes the best _____.
Definitely Mac'n Cheese. That was my favorite growing up and I use Mom's recipe as a basis for comparison for all the other mac'n cheese I've ever had.
Which chef would you most like to have come into your kitchen and cook you dinner?
I'd have to go with Alton Brown. The guy is so cool. I love the twists he puts on each dish and how everything is so familiar and yummy at the same time.
Who would you most like to eat dinner with?
I know this sounds cliche, but I'd just like to eat with a group of good friends. That always makes for the best meals.
Your drink of choice?
I love drinking tea, especially yerba matte. I also really like those pomegranate/tea mixes.
Where was your best restaurant dining experience?
The Food Studio in Atlanta. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was superb. I've never been anywhere that great before.
The worst?
It was at a place called Taco Mac. The service was atrocious. It took 20 minutes before we even got a server, and then she had no clue about anything on the beer menu (this place is known for its extensive beer selection). Once we actually got food, it was not too bad. We eventually had to speak to the manager and got our meal paid for.
Do you want fries with that?
I love any kind of fried potato, and lots of them.
What foods do you think should be banished from existence?
"Fast food." Anything that is made from more chemicals/compounds than actual food.
What do you see as the biggest "thing" in food for the coming year?
I think you'll be seeing a lot of exotic health foods, like acai berries and yerba matte tea, that are supposed to be magically good for you.
