Happy National Peanut Butter Day!

peanut butterI wasn't sure how to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day. I could put up a bunch of recipes that include peanut butter (and I will, after the jump), but I also wanted to ask one of the more important questions of all-time.

How do you make your peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

I mean, what type of bread do you use? What type of peanut butter? Do you spread the jelly on top of the peanut butter or on the other slice of bread? Do you cut it or eat it whole? What do you drink with it?

I use a soft but hearty bread, like a Canadian White or Pepperidge Farm (Wonder Bread is way too flimsy and lame). I use crunchy Jif, and I spread the peanut butter and jelly on separate slices. I eat it whole, with a glass of fat free milk.

One of my favorite peanut butter sandwiches in the summer was PB, bacon and tomato-- same bread as above, bacon next to the PB, then tomato, then a thin layer of mayo on the other bread slice. Yum. I shall have to see how that works with the sun butter.

I also dig pb as a snack, on apples or bananas.

I also like the fresh ground stuff that you can find at whole foods and if I'm lucky, they'll have the honey roasted peanuts in the grinder.

I am allergic to raspberries (and I hate how they taste anyway), so it's gotta be strawberry or grape jelly to accompany it with. Add to that a gigantic glass of milk and that's a lunch that is good ANY day of the year, and brings me right back to my childhood. Hooray for peanut butter day!

The ratio of PB to Jelly is 2:1. The peanut butter MUST be of the creamy variety AND the jelly MUST be grape. The sandwich also must be cut on a diagional. :)

Also check out www.ilovepeanutbutter.com. The white chocolate flavor is to DIE for!

I normally eat it on triscuits
as in ALL THE TIME. If I really need jelly too, I just dip a triscuit in some strawberry preserves.

Oh, and eat it outdoors...
