Listeria is being blamed for the deaths of two elderly men in Massachusetts.
The listeria was traced to a Shrewsbury, MA company called Whittier Farms. Two other people have gotten sick. Authorities are telling customers to throw out all Whittier Farms products that they might have in their homes. The brand names included in the notice are Whittier, Balance Rock, Spring Brook, Maple, and Schultz.
Listeria is often found in products such as cold cuts and hot dogs but can be found elsewhere as well. Many of us eat some form of listeria every year but we're not affected by it.

I smell a rat a government rat. How convenient for the state dept. to trace listeria back to whittier farms, with a spotless health record, owning their processing plant, nationally recognized for milk quality award winng standards. They represent freedom from unnecessary middle men corporations. They are a threat to corporations and government control. As if horribly crowded corporate government subsidized farms with 9000 cows unhealthy unatural and short lived lives full of antibiotics results in a superior produt. This is not about food safety, its a corporate government attack on freedom for people to produce their own food in their own communities.Hopefully whittier farms can survive this government planned attack on their good name.I will continue to purchase whittier farm products and hope other customers will also. Don"t be fooled by government corporate corruption.
