I think it's pretty safe to say that we wouldn't have this big crafts/home & garden/cooking industry that we have if it wasn't for Martha Stewart. Sure, there were people doing it before her, but not in such a big way. Her 1982 bestseller Entertaining really paved the way for everything we have today.
Stewart is going to be celebrating those 25 years on her show tomorrow. Besides giving her audience a first edition of the book, she's also going to talk with Alan Mirken, the former Clarkson/Potter president who discovered Stewart) and other execs and employees Stewart has worked with over the years.
In other Martha news, PBS will launch a new show titled Everyday Baking, a spinoff of the Everyday Food show, which is based on the magazine of the same name.

Martha Stewart; I don’t often get the opportunity to watch your show on TV. However the other day I watched part of your Anniversary show. As you were reminiscing so was I.. I lived at 100 Elm place in Nutley. You may remember my husband’s family name of “Samara”, Peerless Stationery, on Franklin Ave. was owned by my in-laws.
I remember your Dad working in his garden. My children were small and he would always make sure they didn’t go on his lawn or his flowers when they rode their bikes up and down the street. I currently own 19 of your books including Entertaining; However I like the Introduction of your book “Pies & Tarts” because it mentions you growing up on Elm Place in Nutley. I remember that your Mother, who was a friend of my mother-in-law, brought this book in to her and she was anxious to show it to me. Although I did not grow up on Elm place, I was happy raising my 4 children there. And some of the families you mentioned still lived there, or their children bought their homes. I think I saw you one time painting the front door of your parents home. Time goes by and people pass, but we still have many happy memories of Nutley.

Stewart, wonderful! It is a pity that I missed this show on TV. You know, she is one of my heros. How knowledgable she is. I think even she knows how to do everything! It seems that everything she writes and shows works wonders. I guess that is why she is so popular and rich. I am a homemaker and I love her recipes very much. Rcently I will give a small dinner party for my neighborshers, fortunately, I found one of her books--"Martha Stewart's Menus for Entertaining" : http://dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=72897 , it seems fantastic. I am sure that this one will help me a lot. Then I will get a lot of praise from my guests. Perhaps in future I would become a good gastronomist just like her. Who knows! Huh, love her!
