Best city for food isn't Paris

shibucho sashimi
White tablecloths, outstanding service, and the flakiest croissants that'll ever melt in your mouth. You'd think Paris would be the Best City in the World for food, wouldn't you?

Especially when it's Frenchman Jean-Luc Naret, director of the Michelin Guide, confirming the choice, right?

Nope. The best city for food is half-way around the world, Tokyo, Japan, which won 191 total stars, twice the number awarded to Paris, and more than three times the number awarded to New York.

Additionally, eight restaurants in Tokyo won top honors of three stars, whereas Paris had six. As if stars weren't enough, three of the eight three-star winning restaurants in Tokyo serve French food. Guess you're flying to Asia if you want to do a foodie tour!

Like a vietnamese restaurant opened there its highly likely that the chef lived in vietnam for 10 years and speaks fluent vietnamese, whereas here you have America's darling David Chang who opens awful ramen shop after only working at a ramen shop for a week.

With Broussards, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, K-Paul, Dick & Jenny's, Emeril's, Cafe Degas, Muriel's, Bacco, Dominiques, Tujagues, Marigny Brasserie, Arnaud's, Court of Two Sisters, etc., you just cannot beat New Orleans Cajun/Creole mix.

I like a tender steak or chicken breast and a great basic cheeseburger with everything on it! Those things can be found in lots of places here in the good old USA.

But then anything we like in our little mans we are able to whip up ourselves. Fine dining out is always enjoyable, BUT we have made learning to cook all kinds of foods from all over the world, though we've never made a hagus -we have certainly mastered much else. German, Hungarian, Polish, Italian, Frech, backed goods to dinners, OH and lest we forget Road Kill---Ah - ce tre bon! Tokyo may now have learned to prep French style but face it, ya just can't beat them for raw fish...................
