Yesterday over on the Amateur Gourmet, Adam posed a question to his readers. He wants to know what your favorite cold weather food is. For cold weather food falls into two different categories. There's the stuff I like to order when I'm out in restaurants and the dishes I like to make at home. For my money, the best deal around for cold weather restaurant food is Pho. There's nothing like a bowl of steamy, fragrant broth and noodles to warm me up and make me feel cozy and well-fed. When it comes to cooking at home in the colder months, I'm a big fan of blended veggie soups. Back in August I posted the recipe for the Moosewood Carrot Soup which is one of my very favorites. I'm also a big fan of roasting a chicken and turning the leftovers into soup the next day. There's just something about a big pot of aromatic chicken broth dotted with veggies, rice and shredded chicken to make my day a little bit brighter.
What are you favorite cold weather foods?

Hands down, my favorite winter food is chili. Either a big, rich pot of tomato-based venison chili or a savory white bean and chicken chili loaded with green chiles and cilantro. Yum!

Hearty beef stew made with carrots, onions, red potatoes and red wine. Add some hot crusty bread and it'll warm you right up.

Roasted root veggies. With red onion and garlic to infuse them with lovely flavor!

I've posted several times under my hotmail address. It looks like posts from slashfood aren't going through to hotmail.

Restaurant: A steaming spicy soft tofu hot-pot casserole from a Korean restaurant. I am so sad that my go to place for my comfort food has turned into a not so good Asian fusion restaurant that tried to tell me my raw tuna was supposed to be served frozen.
Home cooked: I've been completely hooked on a simple dish for the past year—I make Trader Joe's Chicken mushroom herb sausage with a lot of kale, some minced shallots and chicken broth (and salt and pepper). It's a bit of a hearty soup, or a bit less soupy depending on how much liquid I put in.

Wendy sounds like you're talking about soon dubu. Another really good Korean soup is Samgyetang.

Boeuf Bourguignon and a green salad with bread...I could eat it 3 - 4 times a week all winter and never tire of it.
I don't though, because I'm too lazy to make it more than once or twice.
