Bam! Emeril out.

UPDATE: Emeril: Essence Of Emeril To Continue New Episodes
While admittedly Emeril's never been my top food show fave (I've got a serious thing for Alton Brown), I certainly give him credit for helping to usher in the new wave of enthusiasm for culinary TV, and for making slightly more ambitious cooking techniques and ingredients accessible to the folks at home. Today, Mediabistro reports that talks with Scripps have broken down, and Emeril Live's last show for the Food Network tapes on December 12th.
His departure, coupled with Mario Batali's exit in September leaves some awfully tall tocques to fill, and we'll keep you posted.

We started with Emeril then added Paula to our "watching" and now we have seen almost all the hosts. Each one has their own personality and it shows as they are on the air. I guess what I really want to say is - "Keep up the good work everyone."

My husband, who has no interest in cooking, would watch his shows for the entertainment value. Watching Emeril Live is like being invited into a party at a chef's home. The feeling is warm and intimate. Lots of comaraderie and fun while great food is being cooked and the techniques for cooking are being taught to the people invited to the party. I love Paula Deen and her recipes, as well. She and Emeril make cooking a celebration every day. I know some may tire of the "Bam" and "Kick it Up" , but I expect we'll be seeing the terms in Webster's Dictionary soon if they are not already there. What an influence on current American culture!

My nephew who is now 19 and my daughter who is now 11 have watched him their whole lives and my nephew is now going to culinary school to become a chef because of Emeril's influence and love of cooking. I think Food Network is making a mistake if they pull his show.

While I believe publicity is a good thing bringing culinary techniques and enjoyment to the everyday person, these programs are, in no way, reflective of the stresses, skills and strengths of a professional chef. Many of these programs are pure entertainment - although there is a media/tabloid market waiting to separate you from your money. Emeril, Rachel, Paula and Gordon Ramsay have their place, but it's not in my kitchen!! Peace, out.

Oh well, we still have Tony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern to entertain us...on the Travel Channel

THESE SHOW ARE NOT FOR CHEF AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE WATCHING (THEY HAVE THE TECHNIQUE) IF YOU ARE WATCHING THEM GO BACK TO SCHOOL. I AM VERY SAD TO SEE EMERIL LEAVE THE NETWORK I ENJOYED HIS PROGRAM VERY MUCH AS DID HIS AUDIENCE. IT IS A SHAME TO SEE SOMEONE LEAVE THAT HAS INSPIRED SO MANY. GOOD LUCK EMERIL. MAYBE WE WILL SEE YOU ON A BETTER NETWORK. I DO NOT LIKE ALOT OF THE NEWCOMERS PROGRAMS (THE NEWEST FOODNETWORK CHEF IS HORRIBLE!!!!). SORRY, BUT I LIKE PEOPLE TO BE PERSONABLE AND SHE IS TO SNOBBY. IT IS A SHAME THAT FOODNETWORK DOES NOT HONOR THE ONLY HOST THAT BRINGS UP THE FOODNETWORK.COM SITE. CHEW EM UP AND SPIT EM OUT.

Too bad the Network (as well as Oprah) are so focused on Rachael Ray - she lowers the standard of culinary shows and should be gone, not Emeril.
