I'm almost afraid to make this list. I'll probably make myself sick, seeing all of the food I ate in one day. I think I've probably eaten enough to take me through the weekend, though I know I'm going to have more turkey today and tomorrow, in sandwich form. But I had a lot more than turkey, as the list after the jump shows.
What did you have yesterday?
Day
turkey
bread stuffing
mashed potatoes
sweet potatoes
carrots
cranberry sauce
rolls
brownies
banana bread
rugelach
Triscuits
cashews and almonds
half a bottle of Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon
Diet Coke
tea
Night
2 turkey sandwiches with oatmeal stuffing
brownies
cookies
Diet Coke
Good thing I had those Diet Cokes!

last night for thanksgiving dinner my ex husband took me and my daughter and her girlfriend (they are home from the culinary institute of america for the holiday) to brodeurs on state st in media pa. i had 3 bites of salad which was very unimpressive and 2 spoonfuls of escarole soup which was also not very good....then i started feeling sick...i actually threw up in my mouth....didnt touch my entree which was salmon topped with crab imperial and dill hollandaise ....i was too focused on not puking all over the table...the peach mojito actually was helping calm my stomach....the food everyone else ordered was dry and overcooked and no one had a good meal....and it was very expensive....i give it no stars...i came home and puked for hours and i woke up dehydrated with a headache and no appetite at all.
we shoulda went to chinatown.

Stove top stuffing with adulterations like water chestnuts and celery and some seasonings.
Mashed potatos
green beans with toasted almonds
rolls
Cranberry sauce cooked from raw/frozen cranberries
pecan/pumpkin pie
a nice shiraz that was very tasty and went with the meal
I didn't eat too much, which was good. And mom sent me home with all the dark meat and the wings.
Tomorrow night we're hosting the first social event in our house since we bought it (don't ask, it's a long story). After other stuff like a load to 1/2price books and goodwill (lots of cleaning has been involved) I'm baking an apple dessert and we will be heating up a spiral-sliced, fully-cooked ham.

What is Lemon Chess pie?
I didn't have any Cornbread Sausage stuffing for Thanksgiving, but I love it so I'll remedy that at Xmas.

11-26-2007 @10:11AM kfober said... Oh, Bob...lemon chess pie is just the most delicious ever. It is made of an intensely lemony slightly custardy filling on a crust (I think I've had regular crust and possibly shortbread crust). Its rich and sweet and my favorite ever (at Grits and Groceries outside of Anderson, SC) made my mouth pucker just a little bit. I've never made it but the recipes I've seen include cornmeal in the filling.

I'll get the recipe from my pal who made it -- or perhaps convince him to post it here. I know he was on a Charleston Receipts kick recently, but perhaps he's moved on.
No matter the construct, it was luscious. Perfectly, clearly lemony and appropriately sour, but not tart by any means, nor oversugared. I'm thinking lard crust, too, but I'm generally thinking lard crust anyhow.

I brought desserts to a multi-family Thanksgiving, including Indian corn pudding, chocolate chess pie, and buttermilk pie (the Thanksgiving theme was Southern, which means saying "dressing" and not "stuffing"). The buttermilk pie recipe was a hit -- tender, custardy, sweet and lemony and curiously tart in aftertaste (that's the buttermilk). The recipe was found at southernfood.about.com at the following web address: http://southernfood.about.com/od/chesspies/r/bl00510d.htm and was a breeze to make. And even more of a breeze to consume.

11-26-2007 @4:15PM Kat K. said... Oh - silly me! So - the chocolate was the chess pie, and the lemon one was the buttermilk. There *is* however such a thing as a lemon chess pie, though, and I aim to make one soon.
On another tip - I just got to enjoy ANOTHER T-Day leavings dinner, as my colleague Spencer (a mighty maker of meatloaf: http://www.aolfoodblog.com/2007/10/16/national-meatloaf-day-a-pragmatists-guide-to-truly-killer-meat/ ) just presented me with a Pyrex full of savory cornbread-sausage dressing (seriously, Bob - you MUST for Xmas), herbed rice, dilled mashed potatoes and DEEP FRIED TURKEY!
Huzzah for secular, food-based holidays!
