Ah, holiday time. Personally, I require a healthy amount of booze during the holidays; there's family and all the history and drama and love that comes with that, there's a new year to welcome and an old one to say goodbye to, co-workers to celebrate with and, well, I tend to drink more often when the weather is cold and miserable. And I know I'm not drinking alone. Bars are packed, as are banquet rooms. Holiday parties at home, Christmas parties with co-workers. Even jolly old Saint Nick is in on the act (rosy red cheeks, that famous belly, his general merriment ... seems obvious to me Santa Claus enjoys a taste now and then.)
So, what are we drinking, anyway? Wine, to be sure, copious amounts of bubbly, beer of all styles and flavors. The good stuff comes out, too: single-malt scotches, aged bourbons, brandies...neat or on the rocks, the dark liquors tend to come out to play more often in the winter months, and it's good to see them.
How about cocktails? There are several, some of which have hundreds of years of tradition behind them. Here are a few to make the holidays just a little jollier:
Hope you can use some of these recipes and that you and yours enjoy a safe and jolly holiday season. Wass hael!!!

You can keep your traditional egg nog. For the holidays there's nothing better than Puerto Rican Coquito. It's similar to regular egg nog but we use coconut milk instead of regular milk.
In it I put 100% proof vodka. I call it my Puerto Rican Baileys. It goes down smooth but be careful it sneaks up on you!!

Old Iowa girl here with COLD weather drink. Tom & Jerry...beat egg whites until stiff. Beat egg yolk and add confectioner sugar until golden in color. Slowly add egg yolk mixture to stiff egg whites. Heat milk to to very warn not boiling point. Pour egg mixture into large mug and then slowly add hot milk so not to cook the egg mixture. Add whiskey, bourbon or rum. Top with nutmeg and enjoy the warmth!!!

Kelly S. Here ya go!...
Vern's Apple Pie
1 Gal. Apple Cider
1/2 Gal. Apple Juice
3 Cups Sugar
8 Cinn. Sticks
1 Bottle Everclear
Put the cider & sugar in one pan
and the juice & cinnamon sticks in
another pan. Bring them both to a
simmer. Stir them both enough to
dissolve the sugar in the cider and
to mix the cinnamon. Remove cinnamon
sticks after the taste is all out of
them and they "taste like wood sticks".
(could take up to 30 min.) Cool.
Then mix all together and pour into
containers.
