many halloweens ago when my kids were young and i owned flower shops in nj....we did halloween big....think roseanne halloweens like she did on her show....so this one year instead of candy we got chicken feet from the local butcher who sold them to us really cheap....i soaked them for 24 hours in a soapy bleach solution, then left them out to dry for a few days....painted the toenails red, dusted them with a bit of glitter, and tied feathers around the stump and a long string....making a chicken foot necklace.....technically this is a fetish in some religions like santaria....the kids went crazy over them....many came back for more for friends....parents....well they werent so crazy about them....for years kids came back and asked if we were giving out chicken feet for halloween....there arent many things better than candy but freaky little chicken feet seemed to really capture a few imaginations.
