I have this on-again, off-again relationship with...smoothies. It's not really a commitment issue; rather, one of convenience. When it's convenient to heave my giant blender onto the counter, fill it with frozen berries, fat-free plain yogurt and a splash of pomegranate juice, send it into a spin with a buzz so loud it wakes my neighbors, dump it into a to-go cup, then leave the blender on the counter, just to dry into a crusty mess that requires harsh scrubbing by the time I get home, I am all in favor of the "convenience" of drinking my breakfast on the way to work. When I'm stressed and harried to supernatural levels, even a smoothie is no longer easy. I forgo breakfast altogether.
The Shake n Take just might put an end to any issues I've had before and make smoothies my long-time breakfast relationship. As one, single serving blender, you just blend your ingredients, pop that portable cup off, and take it with you! No need to haul out some big blender, no need to pour from the blender into another cup, no need to clean more than one cup.

This is an excellent idea and I'm amazed nobody thought of it before. I've held off on preparing a breakfast smoothie because it's not exactly portable, even though I've had a recipe I've been meaning to try for a while (http://www.recipe4living.com/Recipe/31054-FruitSmoothie.aspx); maybe now I'll get this thing and stop eating nutrigrain bars!

According to the user comments on Amazon, there could be a durability issue. The one person commented that theirs didn't last two weeks before the motor gave out. Which was my initial concern when reading this. My wife would love one if it worked well. Anyone out there have one of these whose used it for a while?

I'm really amazed neither the blogger nor the commenters seem to have heard of the "Magic Bullet" -- an infomercial staple. (You never watch TV after 1am??? How do you live?!)
I poo-pooed the Magic Bullet until my aunt-in-law got us one for Christmas. It's exactly like the description of the "Shake 'n' Take" -- and it's got power, and has lasted us almost a year and made plenty of smoothies. It's absolutely perfect for making single-serving smoothies, and it even blends right into cups (although they don't fit in my car's cup holders).
Check http://www.buythebullet.com/ if you're interested. Looks like it's also available on Amazon. Wow, I really sound like I'm selling this, don't I?

I've had a single serving, blend in your to-go cup blender for over a decade. A Braun ( or Cuisinart )hand blender. For something as simple and tidy as a smoothie you pull it out of the cup, stick it under running water to rince.
That's why I've always been baffled by the Bullet and similar things. The hand blender can be used in a skillet or pot to puree hot foods or stuck in a container to blend a 1/2 gallon of margharitas. I'll save a plastic 32 oz. cup or two from a fast food place to use for blending smoothies to take on my morning commute. They fit the blender fine and I'm not too concerned if I end up tossing the cup rather than bring it home. If I get 4-5 uses out of my single use up I'm not doing too bad.

The Magic Bullet does the same thing and makes more than just smoothies. I make my smoothies in one of the cups (you've seen the infomercials, you know the ones), screw on a lid and take it away.

(P.S. I made my Magic Bullet comment before anne did, but I didn't have a chance to click the confirmation email until now.)

"Leave the blender on the counter"? Is there a reason why you can't fill the blender with sink water afterwords to make clean up much easier?
