Now, this isn't exactly breaking news. Bourdain has had a lot of things to say about Rachael Ray, as well as other TV cooks like Sandra Lee and Emeril Lagasse. But his venom is a little bit more specific this week.
The Kitchen Confidential author/No Reservations star takes a dig at Ray for endorsing Dunkin' Donuts in the latest issue of Outside:
"She's got a magazine, a TV empire, all these best-selling books - I'm guessing she's not hurting for money. She's hugely influential, particularly with children. And she's endorsing Dunkin' Donuts. It's like endorsing crack for kids ... That's evil!"
Of course, Ray's reps answered Bourdain by saying that if you watch her shows (all 40 of them), she actually preaches moderation.

I love Rachel and would gladly have her children, however, Anthony is totally right.
I like Anthony tons too. It's like asking me to choose a favorite between my own kids!
So is asking me to choose between donuts or no donuts. This entire argument could break the very space-time continuum.

I, too, follow both parties, but pardon me: isn't Bourdain a big fan of foie gras?

Who cares? I've tried Dunkin Donuts, and it's seriously not all that. I'd rather have a fresh donut from Krispy Kreme.

Sure, Bourdain is a big fan of foie gras, but that misses the point completely. Besides, if Bourdain were nearly as influential with children as Ray is, I'd be a lot more worried about his smoking and drinking than I would his fondness for foie gras.

For me he's dead on with this statement. What boggles the mind is why she'd even bother endorsing such a mediocre product...oh right, money. Almost forgot.

One thing about Bourdain. He's not afraid to speak the truth of a very simple equation:
Rachel Ray + Dunkin Donuts = Bad Timing for the Obese children of America
Celebrities have pull. Rachel's using hers to get money. Bourdain's using his to criticizer her.

Haha, he's not jealous, he's caustic. And right. And he doesn't take stupid Dunkin' Donut type endorsements because he has self respect, and self worth, untouchable by money and opinion.

Bourdain doesn't trash people indiscriminately just because they make money.
He has said time and time again how much respect he has for Mario Batali--and from crock pots to crocs, Batali and his products are almost as ubiquitous as Rachael Ray or Emeril.
Bourdain's point is that with great marketing power comes great responsibility.
Rachael Ray is a marketing JUGGERNAUT, especially with young mothers and kids--don't think that demographic wasn't a huge draw for Dunkin Donuts.
Instead of doing something useful, like Jamie Oliver is trying to do with his school lunch program in the UK (we'll forget that it's not going so well for the time being hehe), she chose to hock donuts for the almighty buck (it must be much harder to get by on 16 mil a year than I previously believed)
You want to make knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, dish towels, cookies sheets, or a bust of yourself made from pimento loaf, MORE POWER TO YOU...but this is like Elmo signing a deal to extol the virtues of crystal meth.

I remember his rant on the Food Network stars and how he was dead on when he called Sandra Lee "pure evil".

I knew she was evil already. That woman terrifies me. When she looks straight at you with that huge, maniacal grin, you have to wonder--just for a moment--if this is it, if this is the time she bursts through your TV screen like that girl from The Ring and eats your face.

Bourdain is right .Looking at Rays hips in jeans she needs to stay away from donuts ,but Bourdain shouldn't be the one who talks the way he sucks down those cancer sticks on national TV .

Hey, I'm a fan of both Rachael and Anthony. Anthony tends to be one of these "alternative" food snobs, who HATES fast food, but will eat from any old food stand anywhere on this planet. I've literally ran away from some of them, the stench was so bad. I don't understand coming from THAT arena, why he doesn't just say, "to each his own." As far as Rachael goes, if she actually eats at Dunkin Donuts and likes them, why is she not allowed to say so, for pay? "If you want a donut, get it at Dunkin Donuts." No one expects for that to be a lifestyle. For the record, Rachael also does LOTS of charity work, for Share our Strength and others. How about Anthony? Not that it's required, but someone brought up the comparison with Jaime Oliver.

Please, as a nation we have bigger issues! Donuts do not equal drugs. Where did personal and parental responsiblity go? I make choices for myself not because of what someone else thinks or does. A good donut can be enjoyed without a major up roar!

Leave Rachel Ray alone. I'm so sick of this jealously.
So what if she is endorsing donuts, you can't tell me kids don't know they exist. As far as cooking, if you ever watch her show, she does a lot of kid friendly shows, encouraging families to cook together. So this low life doesn't like her, but likes Mario Batali.....hello, take a good look at Mario, he sure is a good role model....obese and all.....
Somebody needs to get a life and leave Rachel alone.

Parents are the biggest influence on a child. Parents need to take full responsibility for their child's eating habits. Relying on television personalities to teach our children healthy eating habits is ridiculous. If donuts are not bought by the parents, I doubt any kids are going to take their allowance and jaunt to the nearest Dunkin Donuts. Food will be forever around us and we all need to learn what to eat and when. We need to be moderate in all things. We have to learn and stop blaming everyone else for OUR wrong choices.
As for Rachel herself, turn off her show if you don't like her voice. I do not watch Paula Dean because I can't stand her accent, but that doesn't make her a bad person! She probably wouldn't like my northern accent either!

This is Dunkin Donuts and not poison....and she does preach modertaion. Believe this critic of Rachel is driven by jealousy of her success. Bourdain I believe trying to get some recognition by throwing these commnets at Rachel Ray.
