Anthony Bourdain calls Rachael Ray "evil"

Rachael RayNow, this isn't exactly breaking news. Bourdain has had a lot of things to say about Rachael Ray, as well as other TV cooks like Sandra Lee and Emeril Lagasse. But his venom is a little bit more specific this week.

The Kitchen Confidential author/No Reservations star takes a dig at Ray for endorsing Dunkin' Donuts in the latest issue of Outside:

"She's got a magazine, a TV empire, all these best-selling books - I'm guessing she's not hurting for money. She's hugely influential, particularly with children. And she's endorsing Dunkin' Donuts. It's like endorsing crack for kids ... That's evil!"

Of course, Ray's reps answered Bourdain by saying that if you watch her shows (all 40 of them), she actually preaches moderation.

I mean have you people never seen a standup comedian that was nothing jesus christ go back to you upper middle class neighborhoods with your gated community's and complain to your housing association about the gargoyle statue in your neighboors lawn. this guy doesn't host a childrens show get a sense of humor you pricks.

Rachel flavors and jazzes everything up (not in her cooking) and makes it something its not. Thats why people hate America. All the fakes like this and if you have watched her show lately you would know what she thinks about moderation.

I like Anthony tons too. It's like asking me to choose a favorite between my own kids!

So is asking me to choose between donuts or no donuts. This entire argument could break the very space-time continuum.

Rachel Ray + Dunkin Donuts = Bad Timing for the Obese children of America

Celebrities have pull. Rachel's using hers to get money. Bourdain's using his to criticizer her.

Bourdain doesn't trash people indiscriminately just because they make money.

He has said time and time again how much respect he has for Mario Batali--and from crock pots to crocs, Batali and his products are almost as ubiquitous as Rachael Ray or Emeril.

Bourdain's point is that with great marketing power comes great responsibility.

Rachael Ray is a marketing JUGGERNAUT, especially with young mothers and kids--don't think that demographic wasn't a huge draw for Dunkin Donuts.

Instead of doing something useful, like Jamie Oliver is trying to do with his school lunch program in the UK (we'll forget that it's not going so well for the time being hehe), she chose to hock donuts for the almighty buck (it must be much harder to get by on 16 mil a year than I previously believed)

You want to make knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, dish towels, cookies sheets, or a bust of yourself made from pimento loaf, MORE POWER TO YOU...but this is like Elmo signing a deal to extol the virtues of crystal meth.

When she looks straight at you with that huge, maniacal grin, you have to wonder--just for a moment--if this is it, if this is the time she bursts through your TV screen like that girl from The Ring and eats your face.

So what if she is endorsing donuts, you can't tell me kids don't know they exist. As far as cooking, if you ever watch her show, she does a lot of kid friendly shows, encouraging families to cook together. So this low life doesn't like her, but likes Mario Batali.....hello, take a good look at Mario, he sure is a good role model....obese and all.....
Somebody needs to get a life and leave Rachel alone.

Anthony tends to be one of these "alternative" food snobs, who HATES fast food, but will eat from any old food stand anywhere on this planet. I've literally ran away from some of them, the stench was so bad. I don't understand coming from THAT arena, why he doesn't just say, "to each his own." As far as Rachael goes, if she actually eats at Dunkin Donuts and likes them, why is she not allowed to say so, for pay? "If you want a donut, get it at Dunkin Donuts." No one expects for that to be a lifestyle. For the record, Rachael also does LOTS of charity work, for Share our Strength and others. How about Anthony? Not that it's required, but someone brought up the comparison with Jaime Oliver.
