Last Saturday a couple of friends came over for brunch. We ate french toast, drank a pot of coffee and watched four episodes of Flight of the Conchords back to back. My friend Shay passionately in love with FotC and so I'd been saving up, not watched any of the episodes until we could watch them together. I watched, amazed that something this funny and ridiculous was actually getting made, and became instantly besotted.
So you can imagine my delight in discovering that the folks over at YumSugar have developed a lasagna-for-one recipe, inspired by the FotC song, "I'm Not Cryin'" in which Bret sings about his heartbreak and how he's "making a lasagna...for one." I love it when parody becomes inspiration.

FotC is brilliant and anything that gets more people to watch it - even lasagna for one - is fantastic!

Agreed -- that show just tickles me! And anyone who is interested in making Lasagna for One, may want to follow up with cupcakes or cookies for one. Lately I've been into my "Small Batch Baking" cookbook and it's just wonderful. Recipes make two cookies, or 4 cupcakes, or, as last night, one mini coconut layer cake, with the layers baked in used tuna fish cans (thoroughly washed, of course). It's a Cooking for One / Adult Easy Bake Oven session of pure fun. Plenty of this books on eBay, so skip the higher priced versions on Amazon (and come post your cute results in the "Small Batch Baking" group on Flickr, as well).

I'm glad more people are getting into FotC, they're hysterical. Sad that the season is over but good news is that they're be back for another one. At least The Office begins in a few weeks.
