Doesn't this guy know that it's Burger King where you can "have it your way?"
A man in South Carolina has sued McDonald's after going into one of the establishments and ordering two hamburgers without cheese. Well, he got cheese on them, and it turns out he's allergic to cheese. He's suing for $10 million.
Now, the guy says he almost died (his medical bills were $700, which McDonald's said they would pay but they were turned down), and he's suing because of the reaction he had to the cheese and because his family "risked their lives" to rush him to the emergency room.
If you're wondering why he didn't see the cheese before he bit into the hamburger is because he ate it in a darkened room.

You'd spend that much just getting through the door of an ER in America, let alone the kind of CCU treatment for a truly life-threatening situation.

It often means dissecting the menu, special ordering with detailed instructions, and then double-checking the order when I get it to make sure there's no dairy. I do not take it on faith that anyone else will listen or remember.
Heck, my mother-in-law still forgets and tries to serve me ice cream for dessert on a regular basis, and I've known her for ten years. A random overworked and underpaid McDonald's employee is well below any sort of trust mark I might have for food preparation.

I do not like raw onions on my burgers and I order them without onions .... then I look when my food is delivered. Sometimes my food does come with onions and guess what .... I do not eat it ... I return to the counter and tell them that they got my order WRONG ... please correct it. While he did order his burger without cheese he needs to take a little responsability and check to see that there was not a mistake made.

Just so you know, people with lactose intolerance or milk allergy can have more and less severe allergic reactions. Yes, it can be as little as "passing gas" and as much as severe respiratory or skin reactions. And even if "processed cheese products are primarily oil, not milk", some people might get really severe reactions even from the little amount of dairy that the processed cheeses have in them.
You don't need to belittle the symptoms/allergic reaction/amount of pain to see that the man in question is wrong. Remember the woman who sued McD because her coffee was too hot? Did it hurt when she was burnt by it? I bet it did! Was it anybody else's fault but hers? NO! Same thing here - did the man get very sick after having eaten a piece of cheese (and not just from "passing gas")? It is certainly possible. Was it anybody else's fault but his? NO! Just like it was incredibly stupid to put a cup of hot coffee between one's legs in a moving car, it is incredibly stupid to not check what you're eating when you have food allergies.

This is what is wrong with our society, everyone wants a quick buck. His stupid lawsuit will cost us all. When you know of someone suing with weak grounds it is your civil responsibility to voice your opinion and put them in check and remind them that their selfish goal hurts our entire society.

AND why would he continue to eat more than 1 bite after he tasted that there was cheese? AND would one bite of cheese really kill him? Too many questions, hope he loses in court!

If he did not know about the allergy, that is ok, but most people know about dairy allergies by the time they are grown. We tend to learn the hard way. He should have checked his food and ordered according to the menu. A hamburger at Macdonalds has no cheese. That is a cheeseburger...

First the guy for not checking his sandwich when he has a food allergy and secondly the guy that wrote this article that did not realize this happened in west virginia and not south carolina. Wait! Can I sue the author for providing misinformation and causing emotional stress because I am from SC and this was slanderous to the great state of smiling faces, beautiful places where history lives?? Imagine that, someone made a mistake! Everyone look surprised!

I always order a Mcgriddle without the cheese (because it makes the whole sandwich kinda smell like barf). It's very comical.. The Mexican ladies behind the counter *always* mistake "no cheese" as asking for apple juice. Figure that one out :-/
