This day couldn't have come at a better time. It's approximately 350 degrees right now (it's not heat, it's the humidity, etc). Not that I have to have some organization tell me when I can and can't eat watermelon, but it's nice to have a little nudge in the right direction.
I've been buying a lot of cut up watermelon lately, usually in the fresh fruit bowls my local supermarket puts together. I can't remember the last time I bought a whole watermelon, or even half of one. But I think I'll do it today to celebrate. Instead of eating the watermelon with a fork or my fingertips I can cut off a whole slice and really sink my teeth into it. Gotta make sure it's really cold though.
If you want something beyond the usual watermelon slice, how about some Sweet Watermelon Ice, a Watermelon Martini, or some Watermelon Sorbet?

I buy a whole watermelon once a week, and cut it up so that it's ready to eat. Makes a great post-workout snack, too - especially if you're hot from being outside.
