I learned yesterday, thanks to the folks at How Much is Inside, that it takes 50 packets of ketchup to fill up one 14 ounce bottle of Heinz. This morning, I discovered (via CNN) that the town of Collinsville, Illinois determined to take the bottle/packet experiment a different direction and find out how many bottles of ketchup they could fit inside one, enormous ketchup packet. The Heinz Co. donated 4,000 glass bottles of ketchup and the town sold them to people for $1 a piece. They then filled the giant packet. I just wonder if they used the signature, "smack it on the 57" technique to remove the ketchup from the bottles.
In addition to being an attempt at the Guinness Book of World Records, the event was also a fundraiser for a local Collinsville school, which was recently damaged by fire. The supersized packed is going to be on display in Collinsville for several more days, before being transported to the Heinz Co. headquarters in the Pittsburgh area. I just wonder what they are going to do with it? Take it to the world's largest hamburger?
