Aside from an occasional Egg McMuffin hangover cure from McDonald's, or perhaps a very rare moment of utter stress-peration (stressed-out desperation) that drives me to Jack in the Box for two tacos for ninety-nine cents, I don't pay much attention to fast food chains.
Yikes! Take a look at Wendy's Baconator - the name alone "Bacon Terminator?" - is meant to strike fear into the hearts of every cardiologist, and from the picture, why wouldn't it? It has two burgers, two slices of cheese, and six, yes six, slices of bacon.
The scariest part of the Baconator, however, is not the burger itself. It's the commercial. It's just so wrong.
Yet, it's so right.

Let's not jump of the fear wagon so quickly, 6 slices of Wendy's bacon is really only 3 slices of real, store bought bacon, so it's not that bad..
And yes, this is one tasty burger!
And I also love the name. Saw the commerical Sunday, and had the burger Monday. Good stuff..

I can't see this reviving Wendy's, which has not been doing so well. Do they think this appeals to the masses? I know I'll never have one of those - ever!!!

I am really not a large fan of burgers or bacon Sarah but I appreciate the post. It allows a perspective into different types of food which is always good.

I must admit I fell victim to this commercial and bought one of these yesterday. It was ok, but I keep thinking I would have been just as happy with a double w/cheese.

The only fast food burger you will ever need: The Hardee's Patty Melt Thickburger. Grilled onions, cheese, rye bread, and angus beef. Drive thru perfection.

Wow. that is just so wrong. It's like the Meatnormous sandwich from BK (omelette, sausage, bacon, and cheese on a huge hoagie bun). Hooray obesity!

According to Wendy's Web site, the Baconator has 830 calories and 51 grams of fat. 2.5 grams of that is trans-fats. Plus there's 1920 mg of sodium. The recommended daily intake is "under 2400 mg," so you're getting close to your daily max just on this one burger.
If you add fries, your meal will have 1250 calories, 71 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of trans-fats, and 2350 mg of sodium.
I'm not sayin' don't eat it, I'm just sayin' that's what's in it.

Hi Sarah i also agree that the commercial is wrong. I tried the Baconator last week during a week of trying the biggest double burgers that Wendy's, BK and McDonald's could offer. We had the baconator, double whopper with cheese and the double quarter pounder( not on the same day).Macdonald's took first place followed by the whopper and then the baconator but I think everyone should try it, just so they can say I had the baconator. I love your blog!!

I went to Wendy’s tonight and tried to order a Big Bacon Classic, but like many, was told that it no longer exists. They then suggested the artery clogging Baconator. This thing is nasty, maybe if it looked like the picture. ha!
Personally, the only reason I really goto Wendys IS the Big Bacon Classic. I like to have atleast SOME veggies on my death burger.
I saw a petition online to “Save the Wendy’s Big Bacon Classic”

It does look frightfully good/bad. I think I'll head down there today.
By the way: "Fresh Never Frozen" does not apply to Wendy's restaurants in Hawaii. In order to keep the price down, Wendy's DOES freeze its meat for shipping here. Hypocrites.

I work at wendys, and I have to tell you that the differance between the big bacon classic and the baconator isnt that big. The baconator is ketchup, mayo, 2 4 ounce patties, 2 slices of processed cheese, a kaiser bun and of course; 6 slices of cheap microwave bacon. The classic is 2 strips less (it's usually not exactly 6 strips anyway), one patty less, one piece of processed cheese less, and onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles added. Come on, if you really want to be healthy why are you going to a fast food place.
