Wow.
For as much as Japanese cuisine is about delicate, precious presentation and things as simple and stunning as sushi (not to mention healthy), it often makes me laugh to see some of the absolutely ridiculous things that come out of their culinary creativity. The above photo, from the Pizza Hut Japan website, is of what I think is called the Double Roll. Remember Stuffed Crust Pizzas, where there was cheese tucked inside the crust of the pizza? The Double Roll takes that concept and basically blows it up by adding hot dogs and pepperoni (I think) to the crust like tiny corn dogs or maybe pigs in blankets, then throws on peas, corn and miniature hamburger patties as toppings.
It sort of makes me think of that SNL spot of Taco Town, making a joke of the most ridiculous taco/burrito/pancake thing. The Double Roll, however, is a real thing.
I am amazed.

This is hilarious!!! what the hell is going on? I have to drive by a Korean pizza place called Mr. Pizza to get home everyday. Their whole stance is pizza for women... um... ok. whatever. but then every pizza on the menu is of some bizarre concoction like the pizza above(probably not as extreme).

Typical fast food garbage. This is just a different version of the Cheesy Bites Crust they put out over here in the states. Pizza Hut like any fast food company tries to sell people on gimmicks instead of the quality of its ingredients. Regardless, I don't what the big deal is, it's nowhere as horrific as the McRib. But I do find it funny that you manage to generalize an entire nation in the process.
If you want good pizza in Japan, goto one of Salvatore Cuomo's restaurants. And if you really want to treat yourself to something nice go get one made by Makoto Onishi. I'll let you figure out who he is.

From what I was able to read on their website, half of the rolls are sausage, and half are cheese. The pizza itself is split, too: one being the hamburger pizza, which has little hamburger patties, soybeans, corn, paprika, and tomato sauce, and the other side being the Pizza Hut Gourmet, containing Italian sausage, ham, bacon, bacon bits, sliced tomato, onion, bell pepper, garlic chips (?), and black pepper.
However, for 2500 yen for a medium (roughly $20.50 US), there's no way in hell I'd eat that. Yikes!

Welcome to other cultures? Nothing revolting about it. Things are just different across the pond.

Listen ... you don't even have to go this far to think of the Taco Town sketch. The frickin' P'Zone (which is sold state-side, mind you) already takes the cake on that. Good gawd, I thought the commercial was a parody of the Taco Town sketch.

Different cultures around the world have different sensbilities and opinions towards different types of food. In Japan people must love this style of Pizza and Pizza Hut came in and decided to serve them. I think it looks quite tasty.

Is it being culturally insensitive to find this pizza absolutely hilarious? I don't know. It's Pizza Hut, so you can't entirely blame the Japanese for this oddity. Just looking at the picture makes me laugh, though--those jaunty little sausage rolls on the edge seems so eager-to-please and at the same time so disgusting!
If it's any consolation, I hope the people in Japan and all over the world are taking one look at our quadruple cheese-and-sausage-and bacon burgers or our chocolate-chip pancake wrapped sausages on a stick and rolling on the floor with laughter. Excess and gluttony and bad taste are pretty funny in any language.

It reminds me of the 'meat pie pizza' which Dominos makes here in Australia. Truly revolting.
