Do you care what food is for sale at your hotel?
That's the question being asked over at USA Today's Hotel Hotsheet. Writer Kitty Bean Yancey (what a great name!) visited the prototype for Westin's new Element hotels. These longer-stay hotels are going to be a bit more upscale than your usual hotel, with fancy sheets, nice dinnerware, and great food.
Right now, Westin executives are wondering what foods they should include in the rooms. We're talking Kimchi soup, Dagoba chocolate, and Stella Artois Beer. One hotel exec pleads with them to sell M&Ms and other comfort foods, and I think that makes a lot of sense. Mix the staples in with the more exotic.
I'm more interested in the "extended stay" aspect. I'm looking for a new apartment, and maybe staying at a hotel for months and months would appeal to me...I mean, look at that kitchen!
