Over the past few years McDonald's has faced some pretty tough criticism about the quality of their food. In fact, the movie 'Super Size Me' single-handedly changed how many of us view the fast food giant - or more accurately, the fast food industry as a whole. Now, in what has to be an attempt at clearing their name from some of the negative publicity, McDonald's has hired six "Quality Correspondent" mothers to visit the supplier facilities, restaurants, kitchens, and attend development meetings - then blog about their experiences. Really though, it seems pretty transparent. Can you honestly imagine any other outcome from this than the mothers going to visit the various facilities, seeing everyone on their best behavior with everything running smoothly, then undoubtedly rave about how wonderful McDonald's really is? I'd say ask any 15-year old who has ever worked there if you really want to know what goes on.
Personally, I'd love to just see them finally admit what they really are and roll with it. Stop trying to convince us you are healthy. Admit we probably shouldn't eat there five times a week, but it is a good place to indulge every once in a while. I love stopping in at McDonald's once every month or so to enjoy something a little sinful, something that isn't good for me, something that cures my craving for grease and fat and calories. I don't want their salads or their wraps - I want a Big Mac. I want fries with extra salt and McChicken Sauce on the side for dipping. I want a Sausage and Egg McMuffin with TWO sides of hash brown patties. I just don't want it everyday.
If they would just admit that they were a little bit naughty, I'd love them just a little bit more.

Oh, tell me about it. Fast food is the treat I award myself whenever I've been good about eating healthy and keeping active - but only rarely!
I subscribe to the belief that you need some bad stuff in your system every once in a while. ;) One of my friends is the daughter of a nurse and a very conscientious eater, and she had a kidney stone at the age of 18. I told her it was because she only eats things that are healthy for her and her body had no idea what to do with the bad stuff.

Once you start, you can't stop.
Being healthy is a lifestyle, not a temporary thing and in the US, its economical to be fat. Why eat only one sausage patty when you can have the second one for 20 cents more?!
We should be eating the food coming out of Hell's Kitchen: http://www.criticsrant.com/archive/2007/06/19/Hells-Kitchen--Cuts-Like-a-Knife.aspx

The real problem is that McDonald's doesn't even taste good, yet it's still insanely popular. Okay, the fries taste good and some of the salads are pretty decent, but the burgers are flat-out awful.
The best things they have to offer are the coffee and the ice cream cones.

If I wanted to be sinful, I go to a locally owned burger joint. McDonald's is such a waste of, well, everything.
I saw the news story about this. The kitchens were all so clean and everyone was all so friendly and the food was all so carefully prepared. Give me a damn break. On any day I would not trust any 15 year old to prep my food.

Did everyone catch this comment? A hired blogger is going to make McD's look good no matter what. They know what side their bread is buttered on. We avoid McD's like the plague. Taste's awful and literally makes us sick since we eat healthy most of the time. Disgusting food anyway.

Joanne,
Yeah that'd be great if they admitted their food wasn't great...but that's just the tip of the iceberg of the lies they serve alongside their burgers.
I think what we're all itching for is a little honesty into their corporation: It's not just bad-for-you food, it's bad business ethic/morals, overconsumption of goods, gross factories and animal treatment, terrible staff treatment...lord the list goes on. And guess what? They're never going to admit to that.

I completely agree with another poster, eating healthy is a way of life, not a fad. Personally, I haven't eaten at a fast food joint in over 3 years. Read 'Fast Food Nation' and you'll know why. Micky D's is just sickening. I couldn't put that stuff near my face let alone my mouth.
Since these corporate giants are all about money they will never admit that they are causing all sorts of health problems in this country. They won't tell you why they load their food up with MSG's that makes you fat AND addicts you.(Not the naturally occurring MSG but the chemical stew) They won't talk about what the cattle they serve are pumped full of, or the chickens or the pork...
No, everyone's best bet is just to stay away. Guilty pleasure or being 'naughty' are one thing, playing Russian roulette is quite another.

I ate my last hamburger at McDonald's probably 12 years ago on a school field trip with my granddaughter. It tasted so awful that I couldn't choke it down. I had not been to McDonald's (or any other hamburger fast-food place) in many years before that, and haven't been since. I might add that I am 72 years old and feel better than most teens.

I hate when I hear people say that they eat at fast food to "reward" themselves for eating "healthy" or they stop by to give themselves a "treat." How can a reward for you body be a horribly toxic, fried, denatured concoction of disease promoting, man-made, cancer causing junk? How on God's green Earth is that a REWARD!!!! For your body?!! It'd be like someone going off drugs for a while then saying "I'm gonna reward myself!" and shoot up some heroine every so often.
I haven't eaten fast food in over 4 years, McDonald's in over 7 years because it was so gross and soggy and greasy. I cherish the health of my body and eat a diet of nothing but natural foods, unaltered from the earth as they've been eaten thousands of years ago. I cannot imagine a reward for myself to be something so toxic. People who "reward" their poor bodies with such awful junk obviously don't eat healthy otherwise. Meat should be eaten in it's natural state, not fried, breaded, deep-fried, overcooked, chemically raised, etc.
Another thing that bothers me is that a huge amount of people think that the unhealthy thing about such junk food is that it makes you overweight. That's the last worry on my mind. You must know that those types of foods are the cause of cancers and diseases. They're the cause of lots of pain and suffering for millions of people. I had horrible health until I cut out all junk food, refined foods, and absolutely anything unnatural and began eating 100% completely natural. People would ask me why I don't eat that junk because I've always been thin and fit, that doesn't at all equal good health. I'm only 21 but a few years ago I didn't think I was going to live much longer. It feels great to have my life back. I had to drop out of my last year in high school and miss out on a lot of great things due to my ill health years ago. Which is another reason that I hate when I hear "Live a little" or whatever in terms to eating poisonous foods. You're creating a dying body by eating that kind of stuff. A wide variety of meats, fruits, and raw dairy products in their natural state are appealing to me. And it really sickens me to see people feed their poor defenseless children with such poisons. It's the cause for a lot of unneeded trips to the doctor, prescriptions, surgeries, dental help, etc. It's truly an evil thing. I hope I can create a difference during my life and at least get a few dozen people from putting that into their bodies and especially children who have no choice. In their natural environment they'd easily choose the foods that appeal to them. They have no choice when they're grown up having garbage set in front of them.

mcdonalds is really bad.
it makes people sick, there's already enough toxins in our environment, we don't need it in food as well.
also they pay their employees minimum wage.
i wonder how much their profit was last year!!!
i only eat homemade food. it's alot cheaper and it's made with love
