It's been a while since I've gone to a market that has such weird-flavored U.K. chips as roast chicken. Lately my attention has been focused on U.S. chips that are made with beef, and taste of it. Roast chicken chips, or crisps as they call them on the other side of the pond, taste more like poultry seasoning than actual poultry. I was slightly surprised to learn that the U.K.'s tastes in savory snacks has transcended chicken and now includes Walkers Lamb & Mint Flavour Crisps. To tell the truth, I feel a bit scooped by the folks over at Taquitos. I can't wait until this strange new chip makes it to the States. The Taquitos crew characterized this latest oddity from Walker's as both meaty and minty. Unlike the various brands of roast chicken flavor crisps I tasted, these babies are made with actual meat. Lamb powder, to be specific. The mint, on the other hand, tasted less than natural, according to the Taquitos team.

I don't want to sound ethnocentric, but that sounds inedible.

They're lovely. But don't be surprised when they don't taste greatly of meat. The regular walkers crips taste ifn't meant to be mega authentic, it is a snack food after all.
If you want meat flavoured crisps that taste of their flavour then yo need the Walkers Sensations. THey have superios flavouring and the meat ones truly taste of their flavour.
I don't know hwo I ever survived the US without meat flavoured crisps.

After the last Commonwealth Games (I think), Smiths did a series of 'international' flavoured chips here in Australia. There was English Lamb and Mint, Canadian Bacon, and Aussie Sausage Sizzle. The lamb ones were very tasty!

I grew up on roast lamb with mint sauce, but I'm gagging just thinking about what these "crisps" must taste like.
What made anyone think this was a good flavor for potato chips?

@JC
hehe do they actually change their name when they go over to you? They're called prawn cocktail flavour here (UK), what you call shrimps we call prawns.
As somebody above mentioned, you should try the Walkers Sensations range - http://walkers.corpex.com/CR15p5/products.asp?snacktypeid=39 - the Thai sweet chilli are almost perfect I swear!

If you think that lamb & mint is weird, I don't know what you'll make of the fact that there was, and may still be for all I know, HEDGEHOG flavour crisps available.

We get these in some specialty stores in Toronto, and they're pretty darn good. Other than perhaps the Curry crisps (I love curry, but they're a little too strong for me), Walker's has good chip flavours. Especially the Shrimp Crisps (not shrimp flavour, but shrimp cocktail sauce flavour).

@7 - Yep Hedgehog crisps can still be bought, although the only place I know of where they can be got is from Makro at Leeds. Very nice they are too.
The Lamb and Mint crisps have been here for ages now. I'm not a lamb lover, but I've heard they are very nice.
The Onion and Balsamic Vingear ones and Oven Roasted Chicken with Thyme are my personal faves.

Well there are loads more flavours out there that you may not get in the US:
- Honey Roast Ham
- Roast Beef and Mustard (devine!)
- Marmite (an acquired taste)
- Steak and Onion
- Tomato
- Lobster (nicer than they sound)
