Even as a kid I was never much of a pop/soda drinker, but I've always had a little love affair with iced tea. Whether it was powdered, bottled, or freshly homemade - it never mattered to me as long as I had some. Needless to say, when I saw that Stash had released a line of Iced Green Teas in powder form, I was pretty excited.
Though I haven't tried them yet, the four different varieties look pretty enticing - they come in Blueberry Green Tea, Mint Green Tea, regular Green Tea or lightly sweetened Green Tea. Has anyone out there tried them? If so, let us know what you think.

I added a box of the regular green tea flavor to my last Stash order, because I love green tea and was curious. It... didn't work well. The powder didn't fully dissolve and the flavor was muddy. This might be more palatable sweetened or flavored, I don't know. I tried adding sugar and it didn't help. Next time I'll just brew my favorite Stash green tea and keep a pitcher in the fridge -- more work, but I won't gag as I choke down a glass.

Laura, that's disappointing to hear! Some of the other powdered teas on the market have an awful aftertaste from the artifical sweeteners. Celestial Seasonings makes Zingers to Go, but all are herbal tea flavors (not green tea).

Well, in my opinion, I thought the new line of powdered tea from Stash is excellent. More so when compared to other brands. I drink tea daily and know that Stash's powdered teas taste just like whole leaf teas brewed on the stove. People may not identify or like the flavor simply because it isn't artifical and doesn't taste like SNAPPLE! It is natural. The mint flavor has a very clean taste to it. What I found great about these teas is that you can sweeten them to how you like. I just think that if you don't like the taste for real tea you probably won't like them. They have a distinct green leafy taste and are better if you add more water than needed to dilute it. If you can recall the flavor of the last green tea you brewed and it came out a bit stronger that is how they taste. As a tea lover, I find the convenience wonderful and think they are neat =}.

Hmm, I may try some again using extra water, that might help. I also think letting it sit for a while before drinking might allow the undissolved stuff to settle to the bottom, which would improve the taste. I love green tea in general and usually drink it hot and unsweetened -- the Stash gunpowder green loose tea is a favorite.
Joanne, if you'd like a sample for scientific Slashfood testing, email me an address.

what's the deal with powdered tea--it's just supposed to be easier? is it supposed to be like Japanese tea ceremony tea?
my brother bought me a grinder to make the powder like in tea ceremony but the directions were all in Japanese so I wasn't sure how it worked. my guess (supplemented by half-assed web research) was that you grind up leaves into powder. this sounds bitter to me, but when i went to a tea ceremony in japan, i remember it being really bitter so maybe this is how it is supposed to be?
still yet, not my... cup of tea. haha...

I am somewhat skeptical about tea powders; do they contain the antioxidants, ECGC, and other health benefits of green tea or does the processing affect the benefits? Just wondering.
