This might not quite be the Pizza Crepe Taco Pancake Chili Bag that SNL made (in)famous last year, but it comes pretty close. Actually, I think it might be better. The Philly Taco, the creation of "Nancy," is a snack that one makes only when under the influence of several beers on South Street in Philadelphia. It is a Philly cheesesteak sandwich wrapped inside a slice of cheese pizza.
Of course, I do have to agree with food blogger John (Cho-Tabetai), who documented the thing, in saying that it's more of a burrito than a taco.
But, whatever.

Normally, food mashups are something I like, and so are those horrible bar food creations like The Luther and The Fat Darrell.
This, however, just looks disgusting.

I love it! If I'm ever in Philadelphia, I'm going to eat one of these. I could probably come up with something similar here in California, but I'm sure it wouldn't be the same.

I'm definitely trying that this week.
The two places they mention to fetch the ingredients are favorites of mine here in Philly. Ishkabibble's has a wonderful drink (kid-safe) that's simply a 50/50 mix of lemonade and grape juice called a Gremlin. Very yummy.

I have been a resident of Philadelphia for some time. My friend told me about the Philly Taco a few weeks ago and I think its so funny and ironic that it showed up on here! To be honest however, Jim's in my opinion is one of the worst cheesesteak places around. Steve's and John's Roast Pork are my ultimate favorites and I would even go for a Pat's over anything Jim's makes!
