Something tells me parents aren't going to be thrilled with this.
College students in Amsterdam have invented powdered alcohol, and they say that the product can actually be sold to minors (16 and over) because it's not in liquid form. Not sure if that would fly in the U.S, but one of the inventors bluntly admits that they are "aiming for the youth market," and Germany and other countries have already had that controversy over alcopops. I can see this coming to the U.S. and causing a controversy too.
The product is called Booz2Go, of course.

If this is true...hikers/backpackers will rejoice. For so long, something like this has been a dream for back-country campers. Packing in ample amounts of alcohol is too heavy...powdered for is perfect.

You could also just, you know, not get drunk for the sake of being drunk.

#1, I think you missed something. Its just a small amount of ethanol suspended in powder. Meaning, its far more space/weight efficient to do something like carrying Everclear or another high proof vodka in a glass flask (it'll leech stuff out of most plastics), and then water it down when you want to drink it.
