Earlier this week we reported that United Food Group had recalled 75,000 pounds of beef in Colorado. Now the company has expanded the recall to include New Mexico.
And it's not a little increase in the amount being recalled. To that 75,000 pounds you can now add another 370,000 pounds of ground beef that's being recalled. The details are a bit confusing. At first it sounds like only Colorado and New Mexico are affected, but the beef was actually distributed to 11 states, in over a dozen supermarket chains. Consumers are urged to either return or throw away any meat they might have in their refrigerators.
TechNewsWorld has the complete details at the link above, including the stores/brands affected and a phone number to call if you have any questions.
Update: Now it's 5.7 million pounds.

Not only did the animals live and die in horror and trauma, not only did they suffer every second of their waking lives, in unnatural filthy confinement, after all the hideous treatment they received, their body parts are thrown away. The industry gets re-imbursed for the loss, taxes fund welfare subsidies through the farm bill for these private industries to over-produce animal flesh to sell to federal food programs, WIC, Schools, Military, Nursing Homes, etc...USDA cares little about human OR animal health, and this vicious cycle of bacteria ridden food continues to threaten human/public health from recalls such as these, to avain viruses that have the potential to kill millions of people. Is eating animal flesh really worth all that ? Not in my view.

The profound philisophical issue is that as we sicken the animals who were never meant to be slaves, captives, products, commodities(dead ground up cows, pigs, chickens in cans, boxes, packages????, YUCKKKKKKY)we are increasingly sick ourselves. Pythagoras(know him?)said,"As long as humans continue to be the ruthless detroyers of other living beings, they will never know peace or health. As long as humans kill animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, He who sows the seeds of murder and pain, can never know joy or love." Sound anything like the world today?

When the media reports on this, they should have more respect and consideration for the lives given against their will, to be thrown in the garbage after being brutally slaughtered. The meat industry's motto really IS, "Eat S_ _ T and die!"

Also, my stomach was cramping like never before, it hurt so much I can't even describe it in words. I was sick for about 2 days. All the doctor said was to take the medications and drink alot of clear fluids, because I could get dehydrated from vomiting alot.

Do they not think about the lives of the creatures they affect just to have a salad? Habitat is destroyed and large and small animals die miserable deaths by predation and vehicles, not to mention the joys of starvation. Now that's just cruel. How do they feel when they pass by a soy field and find Thumper on the bumper? I personaly have the highest respect for animals and their habitat and accept that I am part of the cycle of life. How you enjoy your meal is up to you.
Just a thought...
