Yes, that's 75,000 pounds. The company has recalled the ground beef because of possible E. coli contamination, and the state of Colorado is urging consumers not to eat ground beef from the company and to throw it away.
The beef was distributed to several Albertson's stores in Colorado, and the store chain has removed all of the beef mentioned in the recall. Other products not mentioned in the recall are still on Albertson's shelves and are safe to eat.
Food Consumer.org has the full details on the recall, including a list of the products recalled and their dates and codes.

When will we get some REAL food inspection in the US. Pets have died, people have died and many, many more have been seriously ill (with hideous medical expenses to boot!) and still only HALF OF 1% of imported food and even less of domestic food is inspected!
You'd think this administration that herds people around by fear for their lives would realize that dead is dead whether it comes from a foreign enemy or your dinner plate. And what's scarier than not knowing if you're feeding your children something that could put them in a hospital?!
They need to rethink their ideas of terrorism and national security.

I had a pretty good idea before I read the recall notice that the word "chubs" would show up. Those opaque tubes of dirt-cheap ground beef that come from some far off place.
There's no inspection that's going to catch 100% of the tainted food. But systems that let one small batch that's tainted get mixed with 100's of other batches just spread that small outbreak over a much larger group of consumers.
If you don't want to grind your own beef from a single roast yourself, at least stick to the smaller packages ground in the store where the beef is cut. Stay far, far away from the bulk packages where the odds of getting something tainted go up with each additional animal that is a part of it.

I'm totally with you rainey; governmental priorities are totally screwed up. Food safety is one of those basic functions that we should be able to expect from government in a civilized society.
(Although ironically, I'm a bit casual about food safety issues in my own house.)

I'm with Mike - since I got my grinder attachment for my kitchen aid, I grind my own. Makes a WORLD of difference in flavor - never would have guessed the difference would be so dramatic. And it is many times safer than pre-ground.

the funny thing is none of the articles on the Internet say that they supply hamburger patties to Carls Jr. and schools across the United States. Maybe we should be more informed...dont you think??
