Last month, a friend of mine had a Thai Peanut Burger at a restaurant and couldn't stop raving about the flavor combination, so I've since been searching for recipes to put it to the test. Now, I love Thai food and I love peanuts, but I have to admit, I've never considered putting those flavors together on a hamburger before. Somewhat surprisingly I wasn't able to find much on the web (it doesn't sound that strange, does it?) but I did finally come across this one at, of all places, the Laura Scudder's website which I'll be trying in honor of National Burger Month - I'll let you know how it turns out. Recipe can be found after the jump.
Thai Peanut Burger
Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tbsp lime juice
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
1/2 tbsp chopped cilantro
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste
Directions:
1. Whisk all ingredients together, add ground beef and form into patties. Grill, broil or pan fry until done. Serve with sweet and spicy thai sauce and your choice of condiments.

Clicking through the read link, looks like it's geared towards 1 lb. of ground beef/turkey.

I'm surprised that Slashfood has been featuring burgers from around east Asia and hasn't even touched on South Korea's "freaky" Frico Burger.

I like peanut sauce a lot, and I like hamburgers a lot too. Putting these two together however might be like David colliding with Goliath. It's two monster flavors going at it in a fierce battle for total taste-bud takeover. I am also an alcoholic and when I'm drunk, I like to try new and interesting burger combinations. So I'm going to have to give this recipe, even though I haven't tried it, a 2.5 Vagina score out of 5 Vaginas. Now that's American.

Haven't tried it yet, but I wonder if you might get a better outcome adding satay marinade ingredients to the meat and spreading the peanut butter sauce on the bun? Anything to get more unadulterated peanut butter sauce :-).

Yes, 1 lb. of beef is the correct amount, sorry I missed adding that in the recipe.
FriendLee - keep an eye out, coming shortly. Thanks!
Christina - that is a great idea, I'm going to try that as well.
