At least, not unless you're absolutely 100% positively certain that it's actually not a puffer fish that was mislabeled as monkfish.
Two people in the Chicago area became seriously ill after eating homemade soup containing the mislabeled monkfish. The FDA analyzed the fish and confirmed that the fish, which was actually puffer fish, contained tetrodotoxin, a poison. If you have monkfish in your refrigerator or freezer, the FDA says to throw it out. In the meantime, the FDA is examining all imports from the Chinese company that supplied the mislabeled fish, and will take additional action, if needed.

Why is this no surprise? From the poisoned dog food to this. China's rampant exporting combined with no real penalties for things like this make them a very bad business partner. The crazy thing is they could seriously poison the population before people figured out that poison was coming from raw ingredients purchased from China.

This is yet another import from China that is tainted. They are so flippant about any kind of quality control that we should seriously consider finding new sources.
The country cares little about what's right, from copyrights to human rights. It's disgusting.

Google up some pictures of pufferfish and monkfish. How the heck do you get those two mixed up?

Right on, Mike and Christy! Good thing we live in the good ol' U.S. of A. where everything is properly labeled and our domestically produced food is never tainted, especially our ground beef, peanut butter, chicken strips and spinach!
