Foods That Burn Fat: The Top 10 List

Top 10 Foods that Burn Fat
Even though the official start of summer isn't until some time in mid-June, we all know that summertime really kicks off with Memorial Day weekend -- and for lots of us, that means lounging poolside for the first time this year, or hitting the beach. Time to get our bodies ready for swimsuits.

Lady Thrills has put together a list of the Top 10 Foods that Help Burn Fat. Granted, you can't just eat a teaspoon of cayenne pepper then sit around on the chaise lounge all day. Getting into shape means eating well overall and exercising. But a little kick along the way from these ten things can't hurt!
  1. Cayenne Pepper
  2. Cinnamon
  3. Ginger
  4. Citrus Fruits
  5. Apples and Berries
  6. Soybeans
  7. Bananas
  8. Essential Fatty Acids
  9. Garlic
  10. Dairy Products

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18610894/

Dairy consumption has instead been positively correlated with everything from autoimmune disease, to parkinson's, to, ironically, obesity.
Instead this article may have suggested that non caloric drinks - tea, flavored water - are easy ways to cut calories from the diet without sacrificing flavor.

Also the underlying assumption that this article makes, namely that consumption of one food in isolation will lead to weight loss is flawed. Food is not eaten in isolation but within a broader diet and ultimately within a food culture. Identifying superfoods ignores their relevance and place within such a culture and thus in a lot of cases eliminates their supposed benefit. Michael Pollan made this argument in a wonderful piece for the New York Times Magazine a couple months ago and I would encourage everyone to seek it out.

Unless the food has negative calories for some reason, or requires more calories to eat it than it supplies I just don't see how that statement can make any sense. On the other hand, if all you eat are oranges and cayenne pepper flakes then yes, chances are you will lose weight, but not because the food you're eating is causing you to burn fat, but more indirectly the food you're eating is not supplying you with enough calories to retain your fat reserves so your body is forced to use fat for energy. This is no different than the obvious and standard medical advise for losing weight which still rings true - to lose fat you have to take in less calories each day than you utilize. That requires proper diet (aka "fat-burning" foods) and increased exercise. Most people have poor luch trying to do it with just one or the other, and combining the two is always more beneficial. Be sensible with your food choices and increase your exercise and the chances are very good that you will slowly but surely lose fat.

i actually think celery is a negative calorie food because it requires more energy to chew and digest than the amount of calories it supplies...

If used on a daily based in cooking and snacking, with even a light routine of exercise, does help to speed up the fat burning process. I personally have added several things to my daily cooking routine, and 7 of the 10 are on my list. Not only have I noticed a significant increase in wieght loss, but also much more energy. It's all in how you look at it. Google each item listed and look for the health benefits of each. It may just suprise you! Of course, I agree with a comment that was posted earlier, you can't add this to your diet and then go sit on the couch! You have to watch how much starch you consume as well. It turns to sugar, and then to fat, then it lands on your butt! Just my take on things! Check it out!

Well, wouldn't that be the same as saying "Gorillas eat bananas and Gorillas are fat, therefore we shouldn't eat bananas"??? Give milk a break. It is so healthy and filled with bone building Calcium with the added Vit D to make it easily absorbed. And, in fat free, it is one of the lowest calories of the dairy products plus it is easy on the stomachs of lactose intolerants.

Here is a little levity for you...Guns don't kill, people do...food doesn't make you fat (or thin), eating too much(or too little) does.

If the healthy things like fresh produce (organic if you wish) and fat free milk and yogurts, and whole grain everything else, and high protein foods were as cheap as a pack of hotdogs and a box of mac and cheese...there wouldn't be an obesity epidemic. My family cannot afford to buy fruits when they are 3 dollars a pound....I have three kids...that's not even one serving for the four of us (daddy's deployed). I bought a head of lettuce the other day for 2 dollars....I remember when it was 50 cents! Bananas, which used to be like 29 cents a pound are now 54 cents!! It gets too expensive. So you have to start thinking, do you buy your kids new school shoes cause they've worn holes in them, or do you buy a watertmelon ($7.50 at Sam's...$5 at Walmart)...the price I could buy a pair of shoes. It's CRAZY! Here's what pisses me off...I see all these commercials where they're putting protein and veggies and healthy things into cans of dog food for $1...when it would cost a human 10 dollars to eat like that. Why can't they make us little cans of that stuff where we can just buy that and not after worry about evrything else. It's just aggrevating when we care too much about stupid animals than human beings. To all you pet people...I love animals too..I have 5 dogs...but I would let them starve if it came between buying food for my kids or my dogs. If hot dogs and processed chicken nuggets and fries cost $10 dollars a package, and chicken and fresh produce were 50 cents a pound...I would guarantee that people would be healthier. Living within our financial means, means we have to eat what we can afford. When you have a 5 person family and maybe 300 dollars a month for groceries...there's not much that you can get that's going to be extra healthy. You can afford hot dogs, mac and cheese, cans of spaghettios and spaghetti and sauce. You buy what you can get the most for your money...and that's without eating out. It's nice to say, eat more fruits and veggies...I would love to, i love apples and melons and making my own salsa, but I can buy a jar of salsa for 1.50...it would cost 4 times that to make my own. It sucks to be poor.

Before I had a baby I tried being on a healthier diet -- salmon, fresh fruit, more veggies, salads, chicken breast, etc. but I was finding that the ingredients needed to supply my meals alone were costing a couple hundred a month at the grocery store. It's so much cheaper to go through McDonald's and get a $1 Double cheeseburger than to spend $5 on a salad (which is the average cost of a salad at all the fast food places I know!)...

My son who is now 24, 6'2 and a healthy, vibrant and intelligent man spent his first two years eating the same food which consisted of nearly a gallon of milk and strawberries. On occassion he would accept a cup of chicken soup or yogurt ( which he would promptly throw up). He could take a head of lettuce or califlower and just devour it watching TV.For one solid year he ate nothing but hot dogs and has not had them since. His doctor just laughed and told me to leave him alone. I am happy to say, he has a black belt in karate, played some very serious hockey, won multiple swimming awards and spent every summer playing tennis and basketball.Went on to college and a lucrative job.. I guess the milk did not hurt him. He has never had soy, hates garlic and celery. Go figure :) What I am trying to say is: stop bashing milk. Eat smaller portions, don't supersize anything except your brain, don't eat late, eat the bigger meal of the day at lunchtime and walk before bedtime. Oh have a cup of milk and a cookie before bed, helps you relax.

First, I admire you for your courage in raising your children with your husband away and living on a very tight budjet. Been there. I raised two kids alone. What I want to tell you is that you don't have to buy mac and cheese because it's cheaper. The whole problem is the convenience of mac and cheese. I used to buy one banana and split it in half for my kids. They never finish an entire banana anyway. A chicken could be several meals. The wings went to make a soup, the breasts were " white meat" and the drumsticks were for another meal. You can make a simple dumpling to go with your soup. If you cook at home you really can stretch the dollar. I used to work double shifts which were 16 hours, and yes it's hard to do extra in the kitchen. Hard, but not impossible. If you have a box of cherries or stawberries, you can stretch that into gello cups, this way everyone gets some. As long as you have flower, butter and eggs you don't go hungry. French toast? All you need is stale bread. Lots of luck and I hope your husband comes home very soon!!!
