Two Days after the Semi-Finals in the Second Annual Clément Rhum NYC Cocktail Challenge:Well, at the end of Part Two of my series on the Second Annual Clément Rhum NYC Cocktail Challenge I had just finished being judged in the semi-finals. I had made a few mistakes that messed up my presentation, but my St. Clémentine Sour itself is a very good drink. Also the possibility of being the only Sour entered in the competition may just go in my favor.
I was told that the final judging would be in less than a week and that all semi-finalists were going to be asked to join the VIP party after the final judging. A three hour bash where all the finalists, as well as the winners would be serving their entry's. The press was also going to be invited to the party, which meant that I got two invitations to the event. One as a entrant, and one with a press pass to write about it, sometimes I wish I was twins.
Well, whichever way it goes I was at least going to get a great party out of it. Of course making it to the finals would be awesome. I didn't really expect to get that far, but if I did, it sure would be fun. Now I just had to wait a few days to see if I made it.

After several days of being on tenterhooks I finally received an email from Clément Rhum. I figured it was coming but...
Dear Jonathan,
With regret, the judges for the Clément Cocktail Challenge have not selected your cocktail for the final round. I understood from them the competition was very tough and there were many deserving cocktails. I encourage you to submit a Clément cocktail in next year's challenge. More immediately, I invite you to join us for an industry VIP cocktail party at 6PM. Then, a prize will be awarded to you in recognition of your participation and your creativity.
Thank you again for entering your cocktail. We will add it to our list of signature recipes and it will be strongly considered for the Clément Cocktail book to be published next year. I hope to see you (at the event) and we can enjoy a drink together.

Well, I didn't make it to the finals. Bummer! But that's OK, there's always next year. Also there are many more cocktail contests to enter and next time the big boys better watch out. In my next part of this series I will tell you about the finals and the party afterwards. I expect it to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to try all the amazing cocktails, which will be published first, right here in this series. Cheers!

Aw, sorry you didn't make it to the finals. Your cocktail sounded delicious. On a related note, thanks for the link on "tenterhooks" - my inner word-nerd had a field day learning that particular tidbit =).
