Interesting map over at Bostonist. It shows the number of Dunkin' Donuts locations within a 5 mile radius of the downtown area. Seems that there are 50 of them! Of course, that was when this map was posted on April 26. I'm sure another dozen or so have opened up since then. It sort of gives you a comforting feeling, if you live in Boston. Not sure how many Starbucks locations there are.
Speaking of Dunkin Donuts, have you seen the new ad with Rachael Ray. Ugh. Are they trying to drive customers away? I don't need her to come up to the counter and order a bagel and coffee and give an insincere "delish" to get me to come in. I already like the place.

I just left Boston, and I definitely feel weird not seeing a DD (or two) on every corner. I rather miss them, it was comforting to know I could always find one near by.
Boston has a lot of Starbucks actually. Maybe not as many as they'd have if there were less DD's, but there's one in every neighborhood it seemed to me.

DD certainly rules the roost, but a lot of New Englanders like Honeydew as well. Honeydew's donuts used to be much bigger and better than DD's, but a few years ago they shrank them down to standard size. And now we have another choice... there are Tim Horton's stores in some areas.

You guys can afford the D&D coffee? What a waste of money for something you can barely call coffee! A $1.50 for a medium coffee is a little much. You can go to the stop and rob down the street and get a refill of real coffee like Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in a 20oz mug for under $1.00. I refuse to enter a D&D for anything.

I moved from Boston to the Dallas area. DD can not measure up to Krispy Kreme, they have wonderful donuts. They are lighter, fluffier and melt in yrou mouth. But you should get them at the stores that actually make them fresh in the store itself, and get them hot, straight off the conveyor belt...
Nothing wrong with DD, they are just a different type of donuts, heavier and different dough.
And Krispy Kreme does not have anything like the Boston Creme(?) (the one with vanilla custard in the middle)...

DD is definitely ubiquitous here in New England. I grew up in a town SE of Boston with about 22K residents and there were 5 DDs in the town, probably more now including all the gas station quickstops. And no, DD donuts aren't the best, pretty average I'd say, but most people are really addicted to their coffee. It's a good mild blend and the workers tend to be pretty consistent making it the way you want it. If you're a coffee snob (i.e. prefer stronger, more robust coffee) by all means look elsewhere. Myself I'm hooked on their bagel sandwiches - a good sausage, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel and a medium hot w/ cream and splenda - nice!

I can't stand Krispy Kreme donuts. I like DD donuts, but I might eat them once a year. Sometimes if I'm traveling I'll stop at DD for a bagel or something. None of their food is that good, but it's reliably decent.
I'm moving in a couple weeks. There are 2 DDs within a 5-minute walk of my new apartment. And it's in the suburbs, not even downtown.

Hahah DD IS everywhere... I think there is at least...3 around where I work within a few minutes walking distance... and that's just me being lazy and not trying to look it up.
And Rachel Ray... I love her shows I just really hate her. I still haven't "seen" the commercial since I like to DVR everything and I fastforward it thru her. I can't stand her.

I love how there's a Dunx on every corner in new england, but there's not one in all of Los Angeles!!! WTF? How dare Dunx raise me on their delectable coffee for twenty years and then completely disapear from my life once i make the move to LA? How am I supposed to get through life I ask you? With the Coffee Bean? Or Starbucks even worse? Shame on you Dunx for not spreading the love in SoCal... we really need you!!!!!!!!

Oh and btw, Krispey Kream doughnuts ARE actually better then the Dunx, but who cares? It's all about the Dunx's coffee- look, there's even a steaming hot cup in the logo. They def have shifted their focus from doughnuts to coffee in the recent years and I applaud them- if only they would open one up in LA! for God's sake, I mean, whose d do I have to s to get one in this freakin' city!?

Dunkin Donuts > Krispy Kreme solely due to the pink icing. Pink icing rules all.

you do realize that none of the D&D have a grill to cook with, right? Nothing can turn me off D&D eeven more than thier horrible coffee than the thought of frozen sausage, egg, and cheese fresh out of the microwave to your mouth. BLEEECK!!!
