Between now and Labor Day, Anheuser-Busch will be selling Michelob ULTRA Fruit Infused Beers - a line-up of three new flavors available in a 12-bottle variety pack, or a single flavor 6-pack. The flavors include Pomegranate Raspberry, Lime Cactus and Tuscan Orange Grapefruit.
From their website, they recommend certain food pairings for each flavor. They state:
Pomegranate Raspberry: Serve with marinated pork and fresh vegetables. The subtle hint of berry in the beer plays off the tenderness of the meat and the light carbonation brings out the flavors in most grilled vegetables.
Tuscan Orange Grapefruit: Serve with lighter foods such as salads and grilled chicken. The tanginess of grapefruit and clean citrus taste enhances the overall flavor of these dishes.
Lime Cactus: Serve with ethnic fare such as spicy chorizo-based dish or carne asada tacos because the beer balances the dishes' heat and brings out the subtle smokiness. It also pairs well with seafood.
Though it sounds good in theory, I will reserve judgment until I'm able to sample them myself. Don't be too quick to judge until you've tried them though - remember what happened with Miller Chill not too long ago?

I happen to be a fan of flavored beers - the Lindeman line of lambics are especially good. The Framboise (raspberry) is a favorite of mine.
I don't know about the Lime Cactus, but the other two sound interesting, especially Pomegranate Raspberry - pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits and I have been overjoyed to see it gain popularity in recent years.

Those lambics are pretty good, if a little sweet. They have a "plain" version of the lambic that is sweet in its own right without the overpowering sweet of fruit added. The raspberry is definitely the best, with the cherry next. Peach approaches too sweet with the apple being much much too much.
However, that being said, these michelob's dont look all that great to me. I want to see the ingredient panel.

As if Ultra wasn't already bad enough. From here on out, Michelob must now be referred to as Chichelob.

Somehow I seriously doubt Michelob are producing lambic beers.
Having tried Michelob once or twice I'm kind of wondering if they're even producing beer!

Is it just me, or do some of these start to look like commercials? Hope that was not too harsh

God, they always want to infuse something! First they took over the vodkas, then the green teas, now beer! Thats messed up ! Leave the beer alone, period.

D Murray - not harsh. If I haven't tried a product though, I try not to take a stance on it. We like to discuss what is new on the market, and hear what you have to say about it once you have tried it.
You should hear the replies we get when we do state our opinion on something though, volatility often ensues ;)

The thing about lambics, though, is that they're actually made with fruit, an addition that brings flavor complexity and alters the brewing process with more sugar (which is why lambics typically have more alcohol). Can we all agree in advance that Michelob won't be adding even even .01% of real ingredients to a beer that already barely qualifies as beer? I have nothing against flavored beers, or even cheap beers, but this just smacks of putting lipstick on a donkey and bringing her to prom.

I'm a beer lover, and not particularly fond of flavored beers, so maybe my comment looks biased, but... "Tuscan Orange" ? I'm from Tuscany, and - guess what ? - we don't grow oranges here :-) Those come from Sicily!

I'm finishing the 6th Michelob Ultra Lime cactus and heading to the store for more (can't buy beer in GA on Sunday). Albeit, not a lambic or Belgian wheat with coriander and orange peel, sometimes a refreshing beer is great. I worked for a Miller distributor for 6 years and sold it all. I currently have my favorite beers and they all run the gamut of taste, style and cost(Sammy Smith Winter Welcome is a fav, but on a hot day after cutting the grass, an ice cold Keystone light does the trick).
If you liken wine pairing with food, then a Mich. Ultra with lime is great on Cinco de Mayo saturday night with some tacos. Don't be a beer snob. Enjoy.

I had this last night..... Just happened to stumble upon it at a gas station! I tried the pomegranate-Raspberry is really quite nice. It's light and not too harsh with a fruit and sweet flavor. I'm glad it's just a summer thing.

It seems as though too many people have commented on this beer without even trying it!! So far I have tried the Raspberry-Pomegranate and the Orange-Grapefruit. They are GREAT!! Actually, I find myself craving them! They actually taste like beer with a hint of flavor (not overwhelmning) and are great to pair with foods, like you would a wine (Orange-Grapefruit is refreshing with a nice salad)! I normally drink Yuengling (or Mich Ultra when I'm dieting) and I have to say...I am going to be very disappointed when Labor Day comes and these won't be available anymore!!

I tried the Pomegranate-Raspberry this past weekend. (And to those Ultra nay-sayers out there, it's a great beer to drink when dieting and/or maintaing weight. Anywho...) At first the flavor in this beer tasted very weak to me--nothing close to the pomegranate flavor in Saranac's Pomegranate Wheat.
At first it tasted to me like someone had watered down a wine cooler and dumped it in a light beer. Not so much "infused" as just plain old mixed. But by my second one, the flavor grew on me. It was light. Not sickly sweet like malt beverages.
All in all, it's definitely not on par with the quality of craft microbrews like Saranac, but it was good for a summer night. I'd like to try the cactus lime, but these flavors are hard to come by in my town. I'll have to go back to the one store I've seen them at to try more.

I had a chance to try the lime-cactus this weekend and was very dispointed. There was very little flavor either as a beer, or from the lime & citrus. I like the ultra by itself, so I was quite surprised to find this so bland.
I would term it a beer & fruit flavored water.

I've tried the Raspberry/Pomegranate and I like it. I wonder how many "Carbs" this has? My girlfriend is a Diabetic and has to count all the carbs, but I couldn't find any nutritional values on these...Anyone know where to find???

Had some of the Lime-Cactus, really not that bad. Went well with some chips and salsa. Not so good with anything sweet.

I came across these in the grocery store yesterday, so Of Course I had to try them. I looooooooove the Lime Catcus. It is light and refreshing. It is not too overpowering, and the light beer flavor still wiggles through. I am a fan of prickly pear cactus anyways. I say they are a nice change for the summer, but dont see them ever coming back.

Ok, I despise the idea of Michelob. I can only tolerate at most the first half of a bottle of any mass-produced American beer before I truly start gagging. And the Ultra product, sicko! But I did try these flavoured beers in St Louis last weekend and really liked them! Very drinkable, very fresh. I think maybe the sweet fruit infusion was why the beer was suddenly palatable, but it was pretty good. Great beer for a BBQ.
