Sometimes it isn't what is inside the glass that counts, it is the glass itself. Jaden at Steamy Kitchen used Bodum Pavina Double Walled Glasses to make a gorgeous cup of Espresso con panna, which is espresso topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream, as show above.
Though the beverage inside is what caught my eye, I had to take a closer look at the glass itself. They are insulated and double walled, handmade and mouth-blown, and come in six different sizes ranging from an iced tea glass (21 oz.) down to a 2oz. espresso / shot glass. (The glass shown in the picture is a 5oz.) Prices range from $11.95-$39.95 on the Bodum website, for a set of two glasses.
Is it too early to start making my Christmas wish list?

Just a heads up- these break very easily- not quite as easily as the Ridel glasses, but they aren't much better.

I have a set of the double-walled mugs and glasses, and while they're dishwasher-safe, they don't stand up well to dropping ice into them or quick temperature changes. I've had two shatter in my hand from just rinsing a warm glass under cold water.

sometimes borders serves hot tea in these (when you order by the pot). they are indeed insulating--at least they kept my fingers from getting burned. they didn't keep my tea hot though. or maybe i just drink too slow.
i think they're beautiful though and want to buy them for everyone i know.

I have had Bodum glasses like this for almost 2 years, they are not that fragile.

It was the shot glasses that originally caught my eye, great for use with the espresso machine. I now have sets of the 8 and 12 oz cups and really like them.
They seem amazingly light, probably since they "feel" thick with the double wall. I don't live in a humid area, but I'd guess that they'd be nice to prevent the puddles that form around your glass in Florida.
in the last 18 mos I've only broken one, but that was dropped about 5ft onto a carpet over slab, so I can't quite blame the cup.
I've got the Riedel "O" wine glasses as well, so these complement them well.

Just to echo what everyone else has said here. These glasses look great, but break at the touch of a feather. I would strongly recommend steering clear. My set of four is now down to one after about a month.

I should add that these glasses are all hand-blown, which causes a lot of variance between lots. Some people's glasses might be really sturdy, while others might get ones with thin spots that are easily shattered.
They're beautiful and insulate really well though.

My wife and I have had a few of these for years without being especially cautious and are used almost daily. They look great, keep beverages insulated, and don't require a coaster. Plus, they are used on the Battlestar Galactica.

I went through two sets of two (I'm a slow learner), first set bought in Oz, second set bought in KC. I used them strictly for whisky on the rocks, hand washed them, treated them very gently. All four broke within the first week of their respective beginnings of use.
Like I said, I'm a slow learner.
So I wrote the maker, and got a patronizing, indeed insulting, kiss-off.
I'll never buy one of their (admittedly beautifully designed) items again.

I only bought 2 of these - so far so good, but I've only been using them for a week. For sturdy, unbreakable, try www.tervis.com - I also have a set in several sizes. You can drop those glasses from a moving airplane and they would bounce back and smack you right back in the face! :-) They have a lifetime guarantee - BUT they aren't as pretty as Bodum, nor do they have the size/shape that I want for espresso.

I bought 2 in December. I haven't used them too many times, but they haven't broken yet. And I've put them in the dishwasher.
They're nice for both very cold drinks (such as gin on the rocks) and hot drinks. But it's hard to tell what temperature your drink is from holding the cup, so you might burn yourself on your coffee/tea. And you can't warm your hands by holding a cup of hot cocoa.

Crate & Barrel now sells the glasses individually, but we stopped selling the 9 oz. glass. Only a couple of people have mentioned the breakage problem, but they are great sellers and a great gift to give.

I've had the breakage issue as well... set of 4 down to 1 within 2 uses... Only still have the 1 since I haven't used it since.
