Sushi company linked to banned whaling

whaling shipDespite a global ban on killing whales, Japanese multi-national seafood conglomerate Kyouko has been selling millions of tins of whale meat in a partnership with American company, True World Foods in New Jersey.

True World Foods distributes and supplies sushi to more than 6,000 restaurants and has $280 million in annual sales.

I wasn't even aware that there were sushi restaurants in the US that had "whale" on their menus.

Folks who have been trying to end whaling gave up long ago on trying to boycott the countries that have whaling, but generally support focused boycotts on companies that profit directly from it.

What if we stop being so judgemental on peoples food preferences and begin to respect the rights of countries to uterlise food resources in a sustainable way while ensuring the protection and preservation of all species on the planet. It is time for us to end the fallacy that whales should not be harvested for food just because a few interest groups in the developed western world is invoking their own value judgement. Our planet is already suffering from past descrimination imposed through a value judgement system that generated distrust and enmity amongst our diverse human popilation. Tosay we have chosen the whales as our standard bearer for food resource discrimination, what will it be tommorow. god forbids
