Just weeks after introducing their new Fresh Fit Menu, Subway Restaurants are now planning to add a personal-sized deep dish pizza to their regular menu offerings. The idea has apparently been in the works for years, but never materialized due in part to the difficulty of fitting full-sized pizza ovens into their tiny stores. That particular problem has now been fixed though with the use of speed ovens - a compact design that can cook a personal-sized pizza in 90 seconds flat. The basic pizza will be prepared off-site, then baked at the store with your choice of additional toppings. Supposedly a plain pizza will be sold for $2.99, certain toppings such as pepperoni or meatballs can be added on for a dollar extra, and vegetables and extra cheese will be free. Subway is planning to introduce the new product line in June at 13,000 US locations.

same in new york, I guess since Subway is just a franchise, franchisees can choose to add whatever they want to the menu, and lots choose to add a pizza oven. Here in nyc there are a couple Subway/Pizza Parlors.

Haven't seen this in Canada yet. Is the pizza any good? Those personal pizzas McD's had back in the day were great ...

Don't have this here in the UK yet. Maybe eventually. I wouldn't mind an okay mini-pizza for lunch at work.

The pizza's been in Wisconsin for at least the last 9 months. Its ok. The kids like it because they can customize it with whatever toppings they want. I think the crust tastes kind of 'bready' and not very 'crusty'.

It's inexplicable. There is no reason to buy pizza from Subway in New York City. It's a stupid idea.
I can understand how Domino's can sell pizza in New York. For the price of a tolerable pie elsewhere, Domino's will come in and carpet your apartment with Wonderbread, velveeta and Campbell's tomato soup.
But what Subway is selling - a plain slice, at three dollars a pop? Is a ripoff. Every slice joint in town knows that the acceptable price for a slice of pizza is the price of a subway ride: Two bucks.

I live in a small town where we have to drive about 20 miles to get good pizza so to be able to drive a mile down the road to get a personal pan pizza is great. In addition I think they taste pretty good. So much better than those frozen pizzas you buy at a store.
